2 things stand out from this brawl. The hit is clean by Avery but holy shit Smid, you challenge a known weasel like Avery and then let your guard down? Another Phruit Euro takes a licking for trying to imitate a fighter.
The second item that just makes me shake my head in bewilderment is how the announcers and sports news rant on about the 150 minutes in penalties and how it was old time hockey. Old time hockey? Where? I don't see shit of old time hockey. This is the new NHL, 150 minutes would be a mere warm up in the olden days of 300+ penalty minutes for the brawls of yesteryear.
Anyways, enjoy the fights. A good clean sneaky right hook from Avery drops Smid, Torts and Prust dance a little and that's about it. The usher and linesman quarantined Avery on the ramp to prevent anything major from happening. The only thing good thing to note is Avery possibly messed up his right paw on that sucker punch and will be out a few games.
Hey Smid, ya wanna go????
Just in case you want to see a a REAL old time hockey brawl, here's the Good Friday Brawl (Vendredi Saint Brawl for you Frenchies) between the Montreal Canadiens and Quebec Nordiques on April 24 1984.
