SBN Goes Out, Blues Shot (Finally) Goes In
Sorry for the technical difficulties during the game, GDTers, but sometimes the entire network crashes under the weight of Game Time's awesomeness. I don't actually read the technical emails about why the network crashes, but I'm pretty sure that's the reason.
Anyway, an unimpressive effort from the Blues winds up as a win. Sometimes you get what you deserve and sometimes you just get a gift handed to you for no reason. With few shots on net and plenty of screwed up scoring chances (OT three-on-one, anyone?) it seemed like it was just a matter of time that a bounce was going to go Nashville's way. Once it got to overtime and the bad ice at the rink led to blown tire after blown tire for skaters on both sides, my gut was telling me that someone in a Note was going down and the Predators would pounce on it and stick it in the net.
When that didn't happen and the game went to shootout I liked the Blues chances, but with Brad Boyes whiffing on a shot and Erik Johnson denting the goalpost it seemed like the hockey gods were going to step in and tell them that it was not to be.
Thankfully Andy McDonald was the first guy to score and the last guy to score tonight, slipping a patient shot five hole to get the Blues the shootout win.
They didn't deserve it, but they got two points. Back at it on Friday against the Stars in Dallas, hopefully they'll play like they want to win that one.

Thanksgiving
In a late response to Hildy’s “What are you thankful for?”
I’m thankful the SLGT is no longer broken. Lessened SLGT wrath is unconscionable against the dirty, nasty Preds. On the bright side, I rest assured they will feel our wrath both on and off the ice the next time our teams meet late in the season.
Also, Juan have a good Thanksgiving, and Fan Ta Detroit.

It wasn’t just the St Louis Game Day that was broken. The whole SB Nation seemed to be down. Japers Rink had issues during third period as well, when comments didn’t seem to be accepted. And eventually that site went down.
Anyway, glad the Blues could beat the Preds.
Rocking the Red for the Caps since 1975. Rocking the Red on additional fronts as well.
Both sides played like scrotum tonight.
Can’t really say either deserved it.

THIS.
The shoot-“oat” was a case in point. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a display of complete puck-handling incompetence. I am not a hockey player myself, so I don’t want to sound like a total douche…but how the FUCK does a professional hockey player miss the net entirely on a goddam shoot-out shot? I mean, Judas – there’s no defense! You get to do whatever the fuck you want! And you MISS entirely? Yikes.
It was a good day in hockey. The Blues’ won and most of their main division rivals lost, except for Columbus (Ugg!) The Blues are only one point behind Detroit.
My favorite team in the other conference (Caps) also won (except all the bad guys there managed to win, also; i.e. PIttsburgh, Philly, and Tampa Bay)
