OK, just had to get that out of my system. The Blues somehow stole 2 points in a game where they went long stretches without a shot on goal. The Great One is famous for saying "You miss 100% of the shots that you don't take." The Blues seemed determined to illustrate that in their shootout victory in Nashville. The Blues won on the 5th shooter in the skills competition; they never had more than 5 shots on goal in any single period of the game. Our boy(e)s pulled it off Wednesday, but they need to get back to getting a lot of shots on net again. There's no better place to express our love for shots than Texas, home of gunslingin' cowboys and a certain little ol' band...

Gun Love / ZZ Top

The Enemy: The Dallas Stars got off to a fast start this year, but have come crashing back to earth and find themselves with a 10-8-1 record. This places them in the middle of the pack in both the Pacific Division and the Western Conference. Part of that is due to their not-so-special teams play: the SBN Stars blog notes that Dallas is 3 for 33 on the PP in their last nine games. They just stole a win they might not have deserved (sound familiar?) against Ottawa.

The player to watch is Brad Richards, who has 4 goals and 4 assists in the last 6 games. The likely goaltender for the Stars is Kari Lehtonen, who has served up a 2.84 GAA and a .910 save percentage so far this year. There are no injuries to report for the Stars, although Lehtonen is not exactly the most durable goalie in the league. Results are still pending on the ever-important "lifting Eric Brewer's kids" test.
