Vote "NO" on Jay for Selke
This Jay for Selke campaign thing is great. Really it is. But, I vote NO. Why, do you ask? Because I want him to remain on the Blues.
FACT - The Blues have no money
FACT - A Selke award winner would probably cost more to re-sign than a non-Selke award winner.
Ergo - Jay McClement winning the Selke award means that we may lose him.
Why do I not want to lose him? Maybe because I like having the best defensive forward in the NHL on my favorite team.
Therefore, I vote NO on Jay for Selke.

I don't know
I mean, Jay KNOWS he’s the best defensive forward in the league. The numbers are out there, and surely he’s heard them at some point along the way. Yet he’s still signed with St. Louis. I mean, sure saying he’s a Selke winner could add some value, but all its doing is giving an award for something most intelligent hockey (Blues) fans already know. I don’t think him getting the Selke would drive up the price on him to much.
Barret Jackman is my hero.
Fueled. These new shores burn. Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more.
Good points there
While I don’t necessarily agree, you have some salient points. His price will increase if he does win the Selke. That being said, he’s played out of his mind and if he keeps playing like he has, he deserves a nice pay day and the Selke.
Here are the other concerns though. We can’t be Chicago and make large contractual and administrative mistakes during this next offseason. Oshie, Berglund, Polak, Dags, all are free agents who’d I would like to resign. The front office will have their work cut out for them keeping the core intact, that includes Jay the following year.
by that theory
you should vote yes for datsuk for norris…
that would be the next campaign and im not sure how he hasnt won the norris already

It's a pretty short-sighted viewpoint.
He knows he’s the best, so let’s keep him from getting recognized?
He’s getting paid $1.4 to be the checking line center and PK specialist. People here love him. How much more is someone going to offer a third line checking specialist on the open market after next season? He’ll be 28 and UFA then… maybe $2 mil a season at that point? Don’t you think the Blues would offer him that much to keep him around?
I just find the reasoning to be a little suspect. Don’t get him the respect he desrves because he’ll likely command an extra $500k – $1 million a year (in two years) when the Blues will likely offer him an extension of around that amount if he’s still playing at that level.
It’s not like the Selke is going to make him a $5 million man.

People, rec this.
I know he’s the Grand Poobah and all, but this shit deserves a green space.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
