Colaiacovo out, Oystrick in
Remember when Carlo Colaiacovo got leveled by Jordin Tootoo and looked like he was in the land of hazy thoughts—the same place Cam Janssen took a trip to against Philly? Well the diagnosis, nearly a week later, is confirmed. Cola has a concussion and has been placed on injured reserved.
Nathan Oystrick, who played Saturday against the Thrashers and wasn't bad—he had an assist and a nice hit is being recalled he. He was sent down after Saturday's game but will be back up before the Blues take on San Jose tomorrow. With Nikita Nikitin still not ready, the Blues needed a sixth d-man. Enter Oystrick.

still no news from the NHL regarding any action against Tootoo, I think.

And you probably won't.
I mean he only did it to one of us. Now if he did this to a deadthing or a blackhawk he would be exiled to the KHL in a heartbeat. We, as Blues fan, have to adopt the philosophy of the English soccer team Millwall. “No one likes us and we don’t care.”

Well this sure does set up for an interesting game next Thursday...
Camcam will be out for Tootoo. That is, if everytime Cam comes on the ict that Tootoo doesn’t skate off to the bench like a little bitch.

Why not Cole?
He seemed to do well in training camp…It just seems like we should be bringing up the best player.
It would appear that Oystrick is the best player for a call-up at the moment
Oystrick has a little bit of NHL experience from playing 53 games for the Thrashers, is one of the top-performing Peoria defenders (3G, 4A, 7P, +4 with Cundari having 1G, 6A, 7P, +6), and recorded an assist in his first NHL game this season. Cole, on the other hand, has no points and a -1 rating. I’d like to see Cole playing for the Blues, but not at this particular moment.
Not only that...
… but once Cola returns to the lineup, the Blues will almost certainly carry seven d-men for a while. Oystrick’s ceiling is lower than Cole’s, and there’s less harm in making Oystrick a healthy scratch for a week or two. Cole needs to play, and he’s much more likely to do that in Peoria.
I didn't think they'd keep the D man they bring up long
Because we have Nikita comin back soon and since they sent down Oystrick after one game. Good to know about cole though. Unfortunate he isn’t having a great season down there.
Wheeler mentioned Cole on the postgame Saturday too.
I like Oystrick with the bit of experience he has. Wonder if Nikitin was expected to be ready, hence Oystrick getting back on 55 North the other day.
Tweeting Twitters HERE
Possible...
… but the news about Cola’s diagnosis was recent. I have a feeling they thought he’d pass and be cleared to play.
I’ll be very surprised if Nikitin doesn’t start out in Peoria. Can’t see him going from “broken wrist” to “first NHL game” without some AHL games in the middle.
Andy Strickland and JR just tweeted that Johnson limped off the ice at practice....
no word on the severity of the injury….
F-U-C-K!!!!!! Enough already with the defense getting hurt! Jesus H Christ!
Coach CPA says it's just a bump and he'll probably be okay to play tomorrow.
So come down from the ledge.
They said Polak's injury
was just a minor laceration at first too remember.
What I heard
He collided with Niktin. Probably just a little shook up.

Just a chew toy for the hockey gods
strachen
made the 7th by most of us due to the fact he knew the system and was the one we wanted not playing 60% of the time, does tyson return to that role and play a cole or oyster or nikita everygame for a bit or what?

Not with the upcoming schedule.
SJ and Boston and NYR this week, Nashville and Columbus and Phoenix next week. Six games, all against division rivals or playoff-caliber teams. I think the Blues need to ice their best available lineup, and that means Strachan on the ice and Oystrick in the press box.
buuut
the point kinda was many people did not think tysoon was the 7th best defenseman, merely the best 7th d-man (the difference being several others d-men, most notible cole, need to play everynight SOMEWHERE)
if we were to evaluate based on skill, IS tyson better now than the other d-men, espcially should nikita get well. because there isn’t an issue with not playing good minutes with this sched

Right now, I think the answer is "yes".
But it’s not just a question of skill; it’s skill AND knowledge of the system AND the ability to be effective on the ice. That takes a good level of comfort with the coach and the other players, and the familiarity of everyday practice.
Right now, Strachan has all those other “ands” over Cole and Nikitin. If he were struggling out there, the team might look for someone else to help out; but he’s stepped into the breach and done a solid job. Based on the last couple games, I can see Strachan getting a regular shift until Polak returns.

Further driving home the point that Jordin Tootoo is a festering piece of shit.
I don’t care if you’re an Eskimo, a Jewish man, a Nigerian, purple, green, whatever the fuck you are, Tootoo. You are a piece of shit that should not have a job. Go fuck yourself and die.
