Saturday Links: PCS > Jim Campbell Edition
I couldn't hold a candle to the guy on skates, but at a charity event in Chesterfield, PCS's team beat Soupy's squad in a game of broomball on Friday night. Score was tied 1-1 after regulation, with the tiebreaker being Time of Possession since it was a tournament and they had to keep it moving. We won that handily. Even sweeter for me, is that I potted our team's goal. As a guy who usually plays D, firing one into the back of the net is a seriously happy feeling. I should do that shit more often.
But enough about me, let's get to the links.
Blues News:
- The Blues got out their thesaurus and started "lamenting" inconsistent play at home. And at any other place.
- Blues/Hawks. 7 PM on FS-MW. Whoa, Doc, this is heavy.
- Oh, well at least we were interested in Kovalchuk. Meh.
NHL News:
- Kovalchuk tallies two assists in his Devils debut. Devils 4 Leafs 3
- The Lightning(s) are under new management. Sale finally settled.
- Puck Daddy gets all the good interviews. Ilya speaks with the Yahoo hockey blog about the trade.
- Brendan Burke, youngest of six Brian Burke kids, has passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident
- All the scores from Friday.
- Saturday's slate.
Other Stuff:
- What the fuck is broomball?
- These women may be hot, but they sure as hell are not as geeky as they lead on.
- Chivalry is dead.
- Street signs.
- This guy doesn't have a lot going for him in the stereotype department.
Video:
Super Mario Rap.
Like I said last week, you tell me when this gets old and I'll quit posting it.
Come back for the game thread. Blues/Hawks. Holy jumpin' it's gonna be a good one.

As someone posted over there, “getting so upset over the Leafs loss last night certainly looks silly now…”

It's an extremely sad end to the life of a kid that probably had bigger balls than me and all of my male next-of-kin combined.
I’m pretty sure I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I read about it last night.

That was a hell of a thing to come home and read last night.
It puts a lot of stuff in perspective for sure. I feel awful for BB and his family. His kid was extremely, extremely brave, and very fortunate to have a father who was so supportive.

Played Broomball in college
It’s really fun in a “run and jump around making an ass of yourself then go get drunk” kind of way.
That frozen ball can hurt like hell when you dive to block a shot since all you had on was a sweatshirt.
No one knows why, but second only to eating the brains of the living, the dead love affordable pre-fab furniture.
But the REAL question is . . .
is PCS > BRUCE Campbell? Not likely, I say. Bruce Campbell is awesome. Anyway, good on ya for taking out Soupy’s Cans last night.
I remember defeating Super Mario Land, like, somewhere around 1,000 times. I even got my mother addicted to that game back in the early ’90’s. She got tired of me playing it, so she had to play it herself. I don’t think I got to see my Game Boy ever again. Probably for the better, actually.

But then you missed SML2...
…and Wario! A much, much better game.

This is odd.
Apparently not only we were in the Kovy sweepstakes, we were the team that went down to the end with the Devils: http://twitter.com/dchesnokov/status/8726730967 I knew there was another team, but I assumed that it was LA. Personally, I think we probably offered potentially a better deal for Kovy than NJ did, but thank goodness for JD not selling the farm for a month of a floater.

JD said
they wanted a chance to negotiate. if it was a trade and sign, the blues wouldve been willing to up the offer. if it was just a rental, the price was too high
hence
a conditional pick or player to be named later works well

D-Wad wouldn't've gone for that.
He wanted a top 6 forward, a top 4 defenseman, a pick, and a prospect. It’s a bit of a stretch, but he got that from NJ. Anderson put Bergfors on the top line with Antropov and Little. Apparently it worked – both of them scored last night and Antro had 3 assists.
Koval-who?

Believe this one or not...
… the price was Oshie. I would have assumed it to be Frenchie (I’ll dig the link up on that after while), but I can see Waddell wanting Oshie if they trade Armstrong, which they will. If that’s the case, I’m about 100x more glad that Davidson didn’t make that goof.
