Blues Trade Palushaj to Montreal For D'Agostini.
"Hey Brian."
"Yeah, this is Brian."
"Wake up the whole prospect department."
'They're all here, boss. Whaddaya want?"
"I said, wake them up."
*sigh* (muffled). Wake up everyone. Out of the sleeping bags, the non-prospect department has a message for us.
"Everyone's listening boss."
"Good. According to Darren Pang's Twitter, Aaron Palushaj just got traded to Montreal for Matt D'Agostini."
WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP! BATTLESTATIONS! BATTLESTATIONS! BATTLESTATIONS! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

I was about to fanpost that
Ive literally got it copied and ready to paste for Jrs twitter.
“The Blues dealt prospect Aaron Palushaj to Montreal in exchange for RW Matt D’Agostini, who will report to the Blues.”
Whos this Dagostini kid. I want answers and I want them now gentlemen.
He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.
former 6th round pick
known for his hustle and grit (so ive read). -29 in 94 career games which is not very good. seems kinda shitty — like AHL filler.
His stats?
His stats are balls. He is statistically as my balls are visually. Why would we trade the highly rated Palushaj for this scrub?

I don't hate this.
Mtl GM reuniting the UofMichigan 07-08 team? Palushaj was third in points, Pacioretty was fourth. Maybe Gaugthier trying to jumpstart Pacioretty.
D’Ag is a good two-way player, with some offensive skills, from what I’ve read
St. Louis Blues. St. Louis Cardinals. Denver Broncos. Univ of Denver hockey and lacrosse. Colorado Mammoth and Colorado Outlaws lacrosse.
From Dobber's site (I hope this is OK...)
Matt D’Agostini, RW (TY 24)
(LY – 94)
A great two-way player with underrated offensive ability, D’Agostini made the Habs for good in late November. At
the time, he had 25 points in 20 AHL games, really coming into his own at the pro level. He is on the cusp of being
either a top sixer or a third liner. Much like Chris Higgins, it will all depend on the chemistry that he has with certain
players. If he happens to click with a star, then he’ll be a second liner who reaches his upside. If he really fits in with
a third-line player and other forwards slide seamlessly into the top six, then D’Agostini will top out at 60. This
season will tell us a lot, but we’ll never really know which way he’ll go until 2012 (or so).
Upside: Bryan Smolinski on the wing (30-40-70+, 70 PIM)
Certainty (NHLer; Upside): 95%; 40%
St. Louis Blues. St. Louis Cardinals. Denver Broncos. Univ of Denver hockey and lacrosse. Colorado Mammoth and Colorado Outlaws lacrosse.

Started my reading up, too.
Profile on Hockey’s Future, here. … a feature was done in ’07 by them here
Talent Analysis
D’Agostini doesn’t excel in any one particular facet of the game, but he is always in the middle of the action and seems to make a key contribution and key moments of the game. He uses his speed to find open areas on the ice and create scoring opportunities. He also has good overall vision and anticipation — he understands what his assignment is before he steps on the ice. D’Agostini plays a very technically sound, smart brand of hockey.
Future
With neither prodigious offensive ability nor eye-popping talent, D’Agostini has impressed the club’s brass with his commitment, his dedication to getting better, and his willingness to do the little things that make clubs successful. This attention to the small things that drive success has seen him leapfrog some more marquee talent in the Canadiens’ organization.

Wait I just realized
We are now over the top on forwards. Unless we send Armstrong down were over the top, and even then when Cam and Walt get back whos going down to thepeoria? Is Kariya gone?

dammit, you beat me to it....
important bit:
D’Agostini, 23, will report to the Blues for their game Thursday. I’m told he would need waivers to report to Peoria, and the Blues won’t risk losing him in that process. NHL rosters can now be expanded above the usualy 23-player limit.

Who is this gallagher person?
OK seriously… did you watch ANY of the olympic hockey?
We I want to know.
PC Load Letter? What the fuck does that mean?
Fucking stupid downgrade shit
I am pissed about this one, I have been going to Michigan games for the last three years watching Palushaj. He is the goods, last year said to be the only reason we would trade Perron. Goddamn it Blues. I am fucking pissed about this shit. Who can we trade now? Hey let’s fucking trade Berglund for Chelios’s used fucking jockstrap, that sounds like a good trade.
its very early
there could be another shoe floating in the air that has yet to drop.
or aaron could be a good NCAA with tools who dont translate to the NHL. if thats the case, swing and a miss for jarmo.
eh fuck it
I actually have a jersey I have been waiting to wear to a game, and unless I move to Montreal, it is going to make no fucking sense. Everyone in Montreal watch my ebay page shortly.
And Ponikarovsky goes for less.
I would have rather gotten him than Dags.
I have a gut feeling
Stepniak may be headed back to the Blues
No idea why but it’s been floating in my brain for awhile.

I was close
I had a feeling he was coming back to the Blues.
I guess we left Phoenix last night without him

The stuff I'm reading
sounds like a Steen-like attitude, and player. If so, then this could bode well for us.

Based on Brian's past writings...
… I hope someone is going to quietly collect all of his belts and shoelaces before he gets wind of this.
May be they wanted to get him away from Mark Fraser...
He didn’t do so hot in that fight.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!?!?
someone tell me how this benefits us UP FRONT. no “maybe he’ll gel” bullshit.
Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky was in a production of The King and I? Well anyway, before the show, Brasky chloroforms the entire cast, and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.

i'm having a meltdown
panic setting in

I'd wait for all the trades to shake out before mashing the panic button
just sayin
Just a chew toy for the hockey gods
Seconded
The guy might not even set foot in St Louis. It’s the craziest day in the NHL. You stand back till the smoke clears then you can assess the damage
No one knows why, but second only to eating the brains of the living, the dead love affordable pre-fab furniture.
Well... that's an odd one.
Hitting the panic button on Palushaj awfully early, aren’t we? Admited, his numbers in Peoria were not what I was hoping for, but I really liked Aaron as a potential 3rd liner or so for the Note.
I’m not as good as our prospect department, but I find this move curious. goes to look up some D’Aostini stats
Breaking News: I'm currently in the process of writing "I will not say and/or type "that word" 1,000 times.
hmmmm
Yeah, I find this odd. I do think D’Agostini seems like a solid “buy low” option, but giving up Palushaj doesn’t seem like much of a “buy low”. 4 points in 40 games is… terrible for a non checking line player (And pretty bad for a checking line player). But he’s only 23, and he does seem to have an NHL skill set.
I guess I’m not gonna label this deal terrible as of right now. Questionable, sure, but Palushaj isn’t Eller.

I fucking hate the trade deadline
nothing good ever comes of it. Palushaj was an exciting prospect, and now… damn, this just made my less than stellar day even worse. I’m no Mr. Department, but I have a feeling we might regret this trade in the not-too-distant future (or maybe that’s just my bad mood talking and I might regret this statement in the not-too-distant future. I guess we’ll have to wait and see).
Obviously, I went to bed way too early last night...

While you're at it TB
What do you think about JR’s quote?
I’m told that Palushaj flat-lined in the eyes of the organization. Still 20 years old, it seems a bit early to make a judgment like that, but evidently the Blues saw a trend that they didn’t particularly like.

Confidence = Shaken (not stirred)
I’m told that Palushaj flat-lined in the eyes of the organization.
Great excuse… Jarmo fucked up… well, it isn’t as if we were trying to build through the draft or anythi…. oh… shit.
Color me underwhelmed. Wasn’t one of the points of stockpiling prospects that they could be traded for immediate help at some point? D’Agostini doesn’t seem to add anything we didn’t already have, while Palushaj at least had an upside that could attract others in the future.
I hate the move.
I'm with you
I mean, Palushaj wasn’t exactly a marquee prospect that could get us a Kovalchuck-type impact player, but surely he could’ve been used as part of a package for a more influenctial deal.
…right?
I know it's time for hockey because I've started singing "Don't Stop Believing" with the words "...born and raised in FUCK DETRIOT!!!"
he is a reach kid too
drafted above his rankings. blues do that alot. question is, how often do they stike when the do that and how often do they fail.
funny thing is this. his stats are off. and instead of being 6-0 (which most of his prospect sites still list him)
the blues downgraded him to 5’11" officially and some people think he is shorter than THAT.
hmm not good devolpement by the blues drafting a 6 footer and after years of work trading away a 5’ 10er
