How will history remember the Joe Fallon/Daryl Boyle era in Peoria?

Favorably, if their first nine games with the organization are any indication.

The Blues' organization got younger (Boyle 3 years < Danny Richmond, Fallon 1 year < Hannu Toivonen) with the deal, and the two have put up quality numbers for the Rivermen since making the two-hour drive south from Rockford.

Boyle, a 6' 01, 200-pound right-shooting defenseman from Sparwood, BC, has chipped in offensively with two goals for the Rivermen since coming over, including the game-winner against his ex-mates in Rockford on Friday night. Boyle is also a plus-2 in his nine games played for Peoria, raising his season total in that category to a respectable minus-1 while playing quality second-pairing minutes.

Another recent addition to the Peoria blueline, veteran Nate Guenin, has also been paying big dividends since joining the organization. Guenin, 6' 02, 210-pound righty from Sewickley, PA, joined the Rivermen on Feb. 11 from the Pittsburgh organization in exchange for Steve Wagner, and has become a tower of strength for Peoria on defense.

Guenin has eight assists in 16 games with the Rivermen, and has been even or a plus in all but three of those games; he's currently riding a three-game assist streak, with five points in his last three games, and is a plus-9 in March, raising his season total to plus-8 in that category.

Joe Fallon's 2-1 win over Hannu Toivonen and the Rockford IceHogs on Friday night marked the first time in AHL history that two goaltenders had faced each other earlier in the year, later been traded for each other, and then faced each other again post-trade in the same season.

Fallon, a Bemidji, MN native who just turned 25 in February, has gotten the tap on the shoulder to start five of the nine games played by the Rivermen since he arrived from the Blackhawks' organization. He also played 30-plus minutes in relief of Ben Bishop on Mar. 9 in San Antonio, taking a 6-5 loss in OT after the Rivs had battled back from a 5-1 deficit.

Meanwhile, Jake Allen continues to roll right along in the Quebec League. After ending the regular season on a 14-game win streak, capping it off with a 15-save shutout vs. Lewiston on Mar. 14, Allen and his Drummondville mates have handled the MAINE-iacs in the first two games of the QMJHL playoffs.

The Voltigeur defense has held Lewiston to just 36 shots in the two games played to date, and Allen has turned aside 33 of those for a 1.50 GAA and 91.7% save percentage thus far. Games three and four of that series are set for Tuesday and Wednesday at the historic Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston.

Anyone else heading to Friday's prospect practice at the Mills?
I was at Harry's bar last night on Market Street and look who walks by me. Talked to him a bit and he seems ready for the season to start. Guy has bulked up a lot. Guessing he's 6'1-6'2 and up to 215-225. He's a tank.
Check it out boys, Halak training over in Slovakia, in his new Blues gear. Sadly, no helmet!
One of the few rewards of going through old boxes in the basement. I have at least a couple of hundred of these in a box. This happened to be the 1st one I pulled out. Dated Feb. 15, 2000.

Halak's new glove via ASs on twitter. Hope to see the new pads and blocker as well. For that matter, can't wait to see Halak in action for the Blues.
