Blues Prospects "Trending Up" for the week ending Mar. 28, 2010
Compiled by Brian Weidler, "Game Time" Prospect Department
"Game Time" PROSPECT SUNDAYS.
For the week ending Mar. 27, 2010, there's a new face in Peoria and on the "Fab Five" prospect listing. 2007 first-rounder Ian Cole made his pro debut this week, and finished his first week of pro hockey with a goal and an assist in two games played.
Receiving honorable mention this week are defenseman Daryl Boyle (4 GP, 0-4-4, plus-2, 0 PM, 0-0-0) and forward Chris Porter (4 GP, 0-3-3, plus-6, 4 PM, 0-0-0). The two youthful veterans didn't score a goal themselves this week, but between the two of them, they chipped in on seven goals, and were a combined plus-8 for the week.
Later today, catch the Blues Prospect Playoff Update, where we'll recap all of the ongoing series in major junior and give you the scoop on which Blues' prospects have how many points in the playoffs to date.
See the Game Time Fab Five for this week, after the jump...

Hell of a way for Cole to debut. And man, great numbers from Cracknell as well.
I am curious about Hjalmarsson though. How long do you think it will be before he comes over to the states, or sould we be cautious over it should happen at all?
And once more, thanks for this. Makes it so much easier to keep up with everything

Cole even got Panger twitters
Ian Cole looking good tonight in Peoria of the AHL. Blues mgmt in attendance with Davis Payne watching team play.
Ian Cole had a goal and an assist and was +3 in Peoria’s 4-1 victory over Houston.
nice to see he’s digging into the whole Blues organization.

Perhaps it'd be getting really far ahead of ourselves,
but perhaps Cole’s great start along with a (hopefully) ready Petro would make Brewerbot and/or Cola expendable this summer?
I know it's time for hockey because I've started singing "Don't Stop Believing" with the words "...born and raised in FUCK DETRIOT!!!"
It's a little early to think about that I'd say
Though I do think with Junland and maybe even Stratchan also in the mix, there is a chance the Blues let go of one of our current “big 6” on defense. Jackman, Polak, and Johnson are all locks to return, which leaves Brewer, Cola, and Weave still there, with either a cheap signing or a call up in the 7th spot.
Personally speaking, I’d actually really like to give Cole and Petro a year to get used to playing pro hockey down in Peoria, and reserve them for injury call ups, sorta like how we handled Lars this year. Getting a year to get acclimated to the pro style could end up helping their long term transition.
Then again, I’m always thinking “5 years from now” instead of “today” type of guy. Basically, I keep as many options around as possible, and I think Brewer has played well enough lately that he should be kept for the last year of his contract. I really would like to see Weaver be re-signed, because he’s been our unsung hero all season. And I like Cola enuogh to want him to return as well. I say keep him. I say keep all 6, and let the 4 battle for the last spot on the roster dor D-Men, and let the other 3 develop their game in Peoria.
Jesus, that comment was a lot longer then I wanted it to be….
