03/06 Road Music: @ Colorado Avalanche

I was ready to use a tune from good ol' Joe Walsh until I saw this tweet from Cam Janssen:

Its hard to breathe up here the mile high really takes a toll

via web

 CamJanssen55

I was reminded of the conference I attended in Estes Park, CO back in my high school days. The afternoon that we first arrived, the counselors organized a pick-up game of basketball. Then they laughed their asses off while we wheezed around the court for while. That altitude really does a number on you.

Harder to Breathe/ Maroon 5

Tonight's foe is going to provide a tougher challenge than Dallas. They've gone 6-4-0 in their last 10 games, and are coming off of an emotional last-minute loss to Wojtek Wolski the Phoenix Coyotes. They are currently ensconced in 6th place (2pts behind division-leading VAN), and are an impressive 20-9-2 at home this year. The Avs faithful have been looking for goalie to fill Roy's skates, and they just may have found someone in Craig Anderson, who is having an incredible year (32W, 2.43 GAA, and .923 SV%). The Avs have made a quick turnaround from last year, and their young crew will be tough to handle. The season series is 2-0 in Colorado's favor, so there's no time like the present to show them what we've got.

This is your pregame pre-party. Get together, marvel at the balmy temps outside, and get set for tonight's match-up. Can they make it 6 in a row?

I imagine some won't care for the Maroon 5

But I think that you made a pretty good audible by switching songs at the last minute.

Let’s go Blues!

Well, it's an enjoyable song

more-so now, when it’s not being played every half hour…. Revisiting tunes that were in heavy rotation once, but not anymore … can allow you to actually enjoy them.

also, the standings are tightening up...harder and harder to breath now...

makes sense.

The Throwdown Lowdown is sad that David Koci is still injured.

But it trudges on anyway.

LETS GO BLUES!

Hey, a win here would put us within 4 points of Nashville, wouldn’t it? Would have prefered those tossers lost to Detwat, but what can ya do.

Breaking News: I'm currently in the process of writing "I will not say and/or type "that word" 1,000 times.

go blues!

seriously, if colorado wins, they’ll tie with vancouver at 80 points for the NW division lead. vancouver will have the game in hand tiebreaker, but it would be best if we didn’t have to worry about that situation.

Good News

Dallas loses, helping our cause. Pitt over Dallas 6-3. That means that DAL has given up 17 goals in 3 games since the season resumed. OUCH

damn, that’s a lot of goals!
on the positive side, my opponent in fantasy hockey this week had lehtonen in the starter position today, so their GAA and sv% got screwed! i might win this week (depending on how vokoun does tonight, of course)

Yep. Picking up a goalie who isn't fully recovered from back surgery was a GREAT idea.

You could tell watching him play today – his lateral movement was really slow and forced, and it usually isn’t. I really don’t think that we’ll have to worry about them unless Turco gets hot one more time.

Reporter: There`s a "stamp out the Beatles movement" underway in Detroit. What are you going to do about it?

Paul McCartney: We`re going to start a campaign to stamp out Detroit.

For what it's worth

Sorry, DK, but no DJ King tonight.

Rutherford covers the scratches tonight here

Syd and King are in the pressbox tonight, Cam’s still suspended. Winchester plays.

SHIT!

Guess we’ll have to count on Beej and Cathedral (and maybe Sir Jaxx) for fight content.

Of course, I’ll be playing poker while all of this is going on . . . but that’s a different story.

You will, of course, be present in the GDT then, I'm assuming...

Been to any Pioneers’ hockey games this year?
