but how much of that will be lost if you split him from Vinny or Stamkos? Not that I don’t love our boys, but you’d need at least two Perrons to match either of those guys. Then again, perhaps a large part of Stamkos’ breakout was from playing with Marty (I have no idea if or how often they were on the same line, though), which could benefit our kids? Maybe put him with Oshie and Backes and give him lots of room to create and see what happens?

But I would be leary of him due to age, especially coming off such a career year. Surely he’d still be a huge upgrade over Kariya, but we’d be buying high with seemingly no room to go but down. Not saying he’ll only have 50 points next year, but how many more 90+ years do you think he has in him?

If it happens, I’d love it (if the price isn’t too high, which it probably would be), but personally I think our number one priority lies between the pipes. A true sniper would be great, but based on current value, picking up the Price/Halak exile will probably be a wiser choice long term than St. Louis.

Besides – think of all the fans who’d have to buy a new Crombeen jersey? ;-)
