Frenchie's almost goal and the thrown stick
For those who want to wallow in some misery. Upon further review the 5 hole was open and Poutine's shot would have been wide even if Rinne hadn't blocked it with the left leg pad.
What is really curious is the stick you see flying by Perronha as he cuts in on goal. Panger mentions the thrown stick on the review. I've seen this exact same play called as a penalty shot before. The stick from Hamhuis definitely distracts Mr. Dangles as he's cutting across toward the goal.
Some say Perron's skate knocked the stick out of Hamhuis' hand. No shit, it still boomerangs off DP's skate and out in front of DP. Only Hamhuis knows if he let go (threw it) or not, how convenient. The PS should have been called.
Now for the burning questions:
Would DP have made the PS to tie the game?
Would the Blues have gone on to win in OT or the SO?
How long will this haunt my azz?
Huge thanks to RickRolled for the fast capture work. My water was about to break waiting for a 2nd look to confirm the thrown stick.

Yes, the five-hole was open, and yes, the stick was thrown...
Without Hamhuis’ stick in there, in the shot above, Perron would have had the option to pull the puck back to his forehand quickly and rifle it through the five-hole from three feet in front of the crease.
Not that it matters now.
