Blues recall Eller and Junland from Peoria
This is from the Blues official site:
St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Thursday the club has recalled forward Lars Eller and defenseman Jonas Junland from the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Eller, 20, has appeared in three games with the Blues this year, tallying a goal in his debut on November 5, 2009 against Calgary, becoming just the 12th Blues player in franchise history to score in their NHL debut.
The 6' 1" 198-pound center has played in 70 games for Peoria this season, leading the team with 57 points on 18 goals and 39 assists while earning his first selection to the AHL All-Star Game. The Rodovre, Denmark native was originally drafted by the Blues in the 1st round, 13th overall in the 2007 Entry Draft.
Junland, 22, has made one appearance with the Blues this season playing 14 minutes against Columbus on November 30, 2009.
The 6’2” 198-pound defenseman has played in 74 games this season with Peoria, leading the Rivermen’s defensive unit with 44 points on 14 goals and 30 assists while earning his second consecutive nomination to the AHL All-Star Game. The Linkoping, Sweden native was originally drafted by the Blues in the 3rd round, 64th overall in the 2006 Entry Draft.

but it sounded to me like kt would play friday but not in nashville.
maybe that waas just my impression but if no kt in nashville that would be a perfect eller opening. and even a solid amount of playing time/ some power play etc.

they also going to be in the loo
though too. not sure how bad the injury is. if it isn’t good, it would be stl he dresses for and plays 2 minutes. they didn’t really want walt to announce what the injury was during the hawks game. lol

No reason not to give em a call up
Assuming your going to play them, naturally. If they do, then yay
Breaking News: I'm currently in the process of writing "I will not say and/or type "that word" 1,000 times.
OK, for some reason, the "reply" feature ain't workin' for me...
…so I’ll just do a new post.
No reason not to give ’em a call up… assuming your going to play them, naturally.
That’s the thing. Peoria’s got nothig left to play for, so there’s no reason not to call Eller and Junand up. But if they’re just calling them up to sit them in the pressbox, what’s the point?
They need to play, and big minutes. Put ‘em out there on the power play, on the penalty kill, in the last minute of the period, the works. There’s no time like now to see nhow they handle these situations at the highest level, and Coach Payne should already have a pretty good idea of what these guys are capable of.

but
it is also a potential trap. jungland had a horrid game earlier this season. might be why we didn’t see him again til now. they both basically got 2 games at most to ramp up to nhl speed with 20 entirely new team mates and a semi new system (jungland prob fairly familiar with payne, but i’d suspect payne had to make changes to his default coaching philosophy to accomidate his blues personel vs his peroria personel)
it would be nice to see them look like they belong, but at this point, it has to be about experience (even just two games of it) and NOT results. I’d hate for a two game mediocre performance by jonas brother #1 to mean the blues do not resign him.
or perhaps even worse, a good two games during meaningless games means they got penciled in for more money and ice time next season than perhaps they are ready for.
still your right on the ice time. put them on the poweer play together on the second uynit. heck even the first, give them late minutes. etc. experience on the cam-king line perhaps not enough of a test.

Once again, "reply" feature not working for some wierd reason...

Oh, yeah… I absolutely agree. This cup of coffee has to be for the experience, and not an “all-or-nothing” audition. I don’t think the Blues will be that quickly to jump to conclusions on either of these prospects, however…
