Saturday Links: Save Jonas! Edition

It's the playoffs and sacrifices have to be made in the name of cursing the rivals.

With that said, I actually find myself rooting for Dany F. Heatley and the Sharks. Bleeeeeeaaarrrrrgh!

Check the Book of Revelation. I’m sure it’s in there.

Piss on Dany Heatley and the Sharks, too...

…I’m pretty much in a “screw everybody” mood today, I think.

Liked the PD interview with Shanny...

… until I hit the part where he said if he had to choose he’d go into the HHOF as a Wing.

Ok, I know it makes sense since he still has ties there and won his Cups there, and yada yada yada, but blech.

Ah, the hell with him...

…wearing that friggin’ sweater — and re-signing with them on top of it — killed any love or respect I had for him.

Even during the Brett Hull ceremony, I kept seeing in my mind’s eye pictures of him in that goddamn Winged Wheel, and I wanted to puke. Except for the Oakland Raiders — whom everyone that grew up in Denver during the 70’s learned to despise — I have never been so full of loathing for a professional sports franchise as I am for those soulless pieces of shit from the worst city in the world.

Fan ta Detroit and, except for the greatest player of all time, Gordie Howe, fan ta everyone that ever wore their uniform as well.

Federko is an exception, too.

Got traded there for Oates, then retired on those stupid a-holes.

That’s called “taking one for the team”.

And in other news...

…congratulations to the Hannover Scorpions (part-owned by those Scorpions, the “Rock You Like A Hurricane” ones, who are actually from Hannover) for their first-ever Deutsche Bundesliga championship.

Scoripns Sting Panthers for DEL Title.

Always nice to hear about hockey over in the Old Country.

I have a worse one.

I saw (probably at the same game as Virginia) a hybrid Thrashers/Buffalo Head jersey. It was awful. No symmetry like the Thrashaslug one. It was just atrocious.

And the fact that someone MADE one… even if it had Afinogenov on the back (which I saw both of them in person, and neither did), it is an abomination to mankind. yarf

And I really wish that the Thrashers’d just limit the logo down to the bird-head. It’s in proportion and doesn’t look like it’s being flushed down the john. Much better.

So I was bouncing through today's links,

and I came across this article from Justin Bourne. It’s a post-mortem on the Caps-Habs series, which may or may not interest you, but he does make a point in the article about why “the best coach I’ve ever had was Davis Payne”.

Yeah, I'm begrudgingly rooting for the Sharks as well, PCS.

Seriously, if it weren’t for FTF, I’d just root for the Cup to be shipped to Northern Eastasia or something.

St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

We're at war with Eastasia, and always have been.

We must ship the cup to Eurasia.

Hear hear.

I like the guys from FTF, ergo, I have very little qualms about cheering for them over Detroit, even if it is the first time I’ve rooted for a team with Heatley on it since God was a boy. I’m actually kind of rooting for the Canucks though, although I like to phrase it as “cheering against the Blackhawks.” The guys from ‘Nucks Misconduct and I apparently get along ok over Twitter in the fact that we’d both like to firebomb Chicago, so I don’t feel too awful.

If the series is Sharks/‘Nucks, though, I’m going SJS all the way.
