With this signing the Blues have now gotten half of their 2008 draft class under contract. First-rounder Alex Pietrangelo (4th overall), second-rounders Philip McRae (33rd overall) and Jake Allen (34th overall), and third-rounder Ian Schultz (87th overall), along with Nigro (a sixth-round pick, 155th overall) have all signed with the Blues.
Of the five remaining 2008 draftees, only forward James Livingston (3rd round, 70th overall) must be signed before June 1, or the Blues will lose his rights. Finnish center Jori Lehtera (65th overall) and Swedish defenseman Kristoffer Berglund (125th overall) remain in Europe, although there has been speculation that both will sign and play in Peoria as early as next year, and collegians David Warsofsky (95th overall) and Paul Karopowich (185th overall) have two seasons of NCAA eligibility remaining.
