Jay Fehr scored at 3:16 of overtime to lift the host Brandon Wheat Kings over the Calgary Hitmen, and into the 2010 Mastercard Memorial Cup Final game.
A goal by Blues' prospect Ian Schultz, his first of the tournament, at 15:43 of the first period gave the Hitmen a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes. A pair of Tylers later linked up for the Hitmen as Blues' prospect Tyler Shattock assisted on a shorthanded goal by Tyler Fiddler at 9:43 of the second to give Calgary what looked like a comfortable 3-1 lead with half the game played.
The host Wheat Kings were not about to go quietly, however, and struck for a pair of goals before period's end to tie the score at three going into the last 20 minutes. Brandon and Calgary traded goals in the third period, sending the game into the extra stanza where Fehr's third goal of the 2010 Memorial Cup tournament sent the Hitmen home.
The Wheat Kings face off against the defending 2009 Memorial Cup champion Windsor Spitfires and Blues' defense prospect Mark Cundari tomorrow afternoon at 6:00 PM Central, with the winner being enshrined as the champions of Canadian major junior hockey for 2010.
