The Warriors Three make it to the Memorial Cup

By Brian Weidler, "Game Time" Prospect Department

St. Louis Game Time PROSPECT SUNDAYS

The Warriors Three

...and no, for the two or three other "Thor" geeks that might be out there, I'm not talkin' the dashing Fandral, the grim Hogun, and the voluminous Volstagg...

Nope, the Warriors Three we're talking about here are the three Blues' prospects who have made it to the pinnacle of Canadian major junior hockey, the Memorial Cup.

Emblematic of supremacy among Canadian junior hockey clubs, the Memorial Cup is a four-team round-robin tournament featuring the champions of each of the three major junior leagues under the Canadian Hockey League umbrella (The Ontario, Quebec, and Western Leagues), as well as a "host" team.

This year's host team is the Brandon (MB) Wheat Kings of the Western League, and they will be joined by the eventual champions of the QMJHL, either the Moncton (NB) Wildcats or the Saint John (NB) Sea Dogs, as well as by the Ontario League champion Windsor Spitfires and the Western League champion Calgary Hitmen.

We may know the QMJHL champion as early as tomorrow, when the 'Cats and 'Dogs face off at the Moncton Coliseum. In the meantime, the Wheat Kings, Spitfires, and Hitmen lie in wait, and three Blues' prospects -- defenseman Mark Cundari of Windsor, and forwards Ian Schultz and Tyler Shattock of Calgary -- hone their skills as they prepare for a chance to have their names forever associated with junior hockey's version of Lord Stanley's Cup.

After the break, get all the details on these three young men -- all of whom are even money to be skating for the Missouri River Otters Kansas City Blues Peoria Rivermen in the AHL next season.
