Tuesday links: Welcome back edition
Well hello there. Sorry about Monday, life got in the way and I couldn't get near a computer. Actually, I'm not sorry — I was out with friends and it was awesome.
Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day. I'm celebrating mine today — floating holidays are the best.

BEER BEER BEER BUBBUBBA BEER!
Meh, Molson still sucks. But that commercial is catchy.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
So as I was watching the hawks game last night I realised something.
I HATE Marion Hossa. I can’t stand him. Anytime he’s on the ice I get pissed. And not because he’s that good, just because he seems like a giant dick. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I hate him.
Barret Jackman is my hero.
Fueled. These new shores burn. Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more.
Crosby and Malkin. Two girls, one cup.
And as for Hartford returning?
I doubt we’ll ever see the Whalers in their non-Carolinian glory ever again. Besides, the Canucks stole their color scheme.

Damn
I missed the GDT last night. I checked about 7 and nothing so I let the kids have the big tv to play on the wii.
I relegated myself to a little bedroom tv.
Not the results I was looking for last night.

This from JP Rutherford's
The Blues have signed forward Jori Lehtera, who was 65th overall pick in ’08. Had 158 pts in 169 games combined the last 3 yrs in Finland.

Also this
The Blues wanted character as ass’t coach and had lengthy meetings with former NHLer Steve Thomas.

Lehtera's going to play in the KHL next year, accroding to Finnish posters at "Hockey's Future."
According to these people (who have traditionally been pretty reliable in their reporting on Finnish hockey in general), the Blues signed Lehtera to retain his rights, and if he doesn’t make the NHL club right away, he’ll go play in Russia rather than play in the AHL.
I wonder if it wouldn’t be worth exploring the possibility of establishing a farm team in a European league? The Euro draftees could be assigned there since they all seem to be reluctant to play in the AHL, and the Blues would be able to bring them up as needed in mid-season, rather than having to play “hands-off” for the entire year like they do now.

worth it?
I doubt it. It would take a lot of money. Good idea, yes
I think it would have to be an entire NHL farm system over there and that would be an incredible feat.

to convince
the euros who have no reason to leave europe for 2 way contracts and low ball bids that the nhl is SOOOOO worth it :)
we can’t minor league in euro cos of the leagues already there and i suspect transfer agreements and what have you. now cuddling up to a specific team should be an option, remember we can LOAN players anywhere even europe. if we have an elite league team or top russian team we magically sign all our euros/russians then LOAN them to a home town team.
