Thursday links: Happy Free Agency Day edition!
It's Canada Day, Free Agent Day, PCS's Birth Day — so many reasons to celebrate. Let's get to it.

I first saw this song/video during the Olympics. Obviously I couldn't link to it then, but it's stuck with me. For Canada Day, let's celebrate our neighbours to the North.
Old Spice has the best commercials.

Kovalchuk
Let’s ignore my complete disdain for Phruit Euro players for a second. There’s no fucking way this dude signs with the Blues. Gravy, did make a great case the other day in his article. Made a ton of sense but man, this dude won’t be happening here. I just don’t see it. He’d be a great talent added to the team as long as we supplied him with eye make up and douche but STL can’t be on his radar.
North Co! North Co! North Co!
I was honestly thinking . . . "What would Answer Man think of Kovy?"
I mean, sure, he’s a Euro, but he’s also very adept at putting the puck in the net. A veritable Catch-22.
Anyway, I think you’re right. That’s a long commitment and a lot of dollars. And a lot of risk. Doesn’t seem like something JD or Checketts would sign off on. But hey . . . could be worse (coughKARIYAcough).

I agree
He’s to expensive. Definately not worth the risk. I just don’t see it happening. I would much rather see us get Frolov or Afinigenov (Maxim). Kovy is just not worth it I don’t think. Yes the guy can puck the puck in the net with surprising regularity, but he is a defensive liability at best. I just don’t see him fitting into the Blues system. If we can get him to fit into the system (and God forbid play some D) and get him from a reasonable place, I say go for it, otherwise, I think there are better fits for less money out there.

afinogenov
is terrible.
frolov wouldn’t be bad if he came cheap.

If Afinogenov was a chick, he’d be Ugly Betty.

Friggin' sucks that the Hawks got Stalberg out of TO...
…I was hoping the Blues could nab him somehow. Big LW who can put the puck in the net, exactly what this system needs.
