Tuesday links: Asking Game Time for an 18-year contract extension edition

I'm in the prime of my links-gathering career, and I think I deserve a new deal. Sure I'll probably retire before the contract is up, but there's nothing illegal about giving me such a long deal.

Enough of that nonsense, let's get down to business. Busy day here at Game Time. So let's get to the blue text you click so you don't have to work. It's the links. Let's do it.

If this post looks unfinished, storms took out my internet. Blame them, not me.

Blues news

  • Stop me if you've heard this before, but the Blues are banking on the team growing and getting better. It worked so well last year ... [St. Louis Post-Dispatch]
  • Patrik Berglund is on twitter. The Blues are taking over twitter. [@pberglund21]
  • Ryan Reaves has a new deal with the organization. He seemed to be impressive during the exhibition season. The AHL season, not so much. [Blues]

Hockey news

Other links

  • Bacon-flavored Spam exists. [NextRound.net]
  • Guy finds out his wife wanted a hitman to kill him. He's not upset her wanting him dead, he's upset about how much she was going to pay. [Comedy.com]
  • Some tips on how to be James Bond or how to be an alcoholic with a lot of STDs. Either one sounds fun.[Lone Iguana]

Video

This video made me laugh and think about college. My old roommate used to love Edward 40 Hands.

Busy day today. We got the first round of Media Madness voting, Tuesday's With Hildy, more Media voting and maybe, just maybe, something from the boss man. Put on your party pants, friends. Today is gonna be a good day.

Lou is crazy like a fox

$6M cap hit for Kovalchuk? He isn’t due over $10M til 2 years from now? What are the odds that the next CBA guts these lifetime contracts, reducing the value of money in the outyears? Although I wouldn’t be happy if JD had made this deal, I think NJ comes out of this one smelling like a rose.

First off,

Does this signing put the Devils over the Cap? If so, who gets dumped? Do the Devils undergo a sea change by trading away Langenbrunner to annoint Kovi as the captain? Arnott is almost untradeable with his salary. Rolston could go I suppose, even Elias is a possibility. Parise’s future with the Devils is questionable now. With averagejoe’s great article in mind on RFAs in the league, the Devils may be forced to dump him at the deadline.

I want to know how much Kovi is guaranteed if he bails and returns to Russia. There has to be some sort of back out clauses based on performance too, that is just retarded.

He will be 44 when the contract is up. Forty-Four years of age.

He will be 44 retired when the contract is up.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky was in a production of The King and I? Well anyway, before the show, Brasky chloroforms the entire cast, and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.
