Bracket Matchup: Kerber vs. Cusumano
Today we have the radio voice of the Blues and probably the biggest basketball fan in St. Louis media. This will be interesting.
Remember to make your case in the comments. More voting comes Monday.
No. 1 Seed Dan Kelly Group
Chris Kerber - Blues play-by-play announcer KMOX 1120 AM
"Kerbs" is the voice of the Blues on KMOX radio. In addition to pre-game and post-game programming, he is also the host of a weekly in-depth coaches show on the radio. In addition, he's done video interviews with players and coaches for the Blues' website as well as weekly Blues podcasts. He's had ventures into web development with HockeyChats.com and a previous website that hosted the podcasts. Before working for the Blues, Kerber spent four years with the Springfield Falcons in the AHL two seasons with the Birmingham Bulls of the ECHL. He also did some fill-in work for the St. Louis Cardinals radio broadcasts in 2006.
No. 8 Seed Dan Kelly Group
Frank Cusumano - Reporter/anchor KSDK-TV
Cusumano is one of the two primary sports faces for NBC affiliate KSDK as well as a longtime host on all-sports radio KFNS. The native St. Louisian was an all-city basketball player for DeSmet High School before playing four years for University of Missouri-St. Louis. He's previously done television work for St. Louis University basketball. While his background and passion are deeply rooted in basketball, Cusumano has covered the Blues on his radio show and through television reports. Full disclosure: his family's restaurant Kemoll's has delicious Italian food we've enjoyed on more than one occasion.

He shoots he SCAAAARS!
Kerbs all the way.
Twice...
That’s the only explanation I can figure for why anyone would have voted for Douche-amano.

There are two kinds of people who will cast votes in this poll...
1) People who vote for Kerbs.
2) People who intend to vote for Kerbs but suffer from internet dyslexia.
Don't diss internet dyslexia!
It lead to the much better 1 Girl 2 Cups.
I know it's time for hockey because I've started singing "Don't Stop Believing" with the words "...born and raised in FUCK DETRIOT!!!"
Kerbs is my under dog pick to take the whole kit-n-kabodle!
If he wins, McRibs for everyone!
I know it's time for hockey because I've started singing "Don't Stop Believing" with the words "...born and raised in FUCK DETRIOT!!!"
#1 seed
That’s a gutsy underdog pick, J-Mill

Most people are going with JR or Norm
I don’t recall seeing a lot of verbal support initially for KBerbs. Besides, in the overall seeds, he’s the 4th #1 seed. It’s not like I’m going with ASs or Ackerman, but it’s less than obvious.
Also, I usually take the chalk – I’m not good at picking upsets.

frankly, i voted
for frank. actually i din’t vote for frank as much as vote against Doug Vaughn. its strange i suppose since doug wasn’t an option. the bracket system has already been exposed itself (and sean admitted to it as well) as a rampant cash cow of unfairness. and systemic bigotry,
but seriously.
doug vaugh or frank? doug’s got himself 98 votes. 98!!!!! its embarasing that frank won’t get more than oh 13. since we are going to be casting ballots based on sex, weight, place of birth degree of drunkitudalness and what have ya, im going to always vote to even out the gift votes vaugh got by being in the draw with the famous bard from boston.
this is, by the by, why i voted for bryan burwell in the run off. i’d love to see him go up against the bard and just watch the comments fly. there would probably be a movement to add “none of the above” to that vote. lol.
on this vote let me say this:
kerbs is gonna win and PROBABLY rightly so, i strongly suspect he would be a “ken wilson short hair cut” away from moving to hawaii if his color man wasn’t the always enjoyable chase. given a historic list of blues play by play men where exactly do you think kerbs would fall?

"rampant cash cow of unfairness and bigotry"
Care to explain that one a little more?
www.stlouisgametime.com
The systemic anomaly?
I think Neo has something to do with it.
AKA Mr. Thomas A. Anderson.
PC Load Letter? What the fuck does that mean?
Clearly,
We’re bigoted against … something.
And this is obviously a cash cow. Just like everything on the internet.
ummm
explaining jokes is never a good thing.
lists and brackets like this one, are, by nature, designed to produce verbage. is there some evidence the ranking and pairings were done scientifically by top men at nasa?
of course not.
of course angella was winning in round one vs 75% of the people in the thing
of course bernie is getting some negative votes. he draws it everywhere he goes, why wouldnt he here?
there is a
“but seriously” line there guys. i mean come on!
but seriously.
angella is voted for cos of sex appeal. lets call it what it is. bernie lost the vote from people who hate pompous fat people. heck read those comments :)
in the burnwell run off vote someone made fun of him calling his detractors racists. (which i thought was funny and somewhat accurate by the by)
sean jokingly answered the first challange to the fairness and bracket fixing with a snarky comment about the unfairness of this all
the adding money to the unfairness as if under the table doug gave someone something to get matched (and ranked) where he was is so obvious a DAMN JOKE. wow
i mean it
wow to the power of three

Well, duh…
:)
You gotta admit, Angella is a hell of a lot better looking than Dan O’Neill, and she has to know at least as much about hockey as O’Neill does… T-Money’s dead quirrel knows at least as much about hockey as O’Neill does.

She looks like she got hit in the face with a tire iron.
But as the late great Franky Sinatra (Hartman) said, “Forget the head. Put a bag over it and do your business.”
Off the top of my head I don’t think I can name you any connections I have between Dan Oniel and the Blues. That alone should cover it.
Bernie may be a tool but I mostly just disagreed with his opinions on sports before I started to realize he was a also a douchenozzle.
He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.
Just because Jay McClement is the best defensive forward in the NHL doesn't mean he should win the Selke.
Hard to compare, since Wilson's radio 'cast was just the TV audio.
There were a lot of times – especially in his later years – where listening to a Wilson radio broadcast was simply infuriating. He’d talk about the puck behind the other team’s net, and the Blues pressuring, and then drop in a comment about something that happened earlier in the game, and then the organ would start playing, and when Ken finished his reminiscences, he’d deign to inform the radio listeners that the bad guys had scored.
Kerbs has never had the luxury of leaving any of the action to be described by the video cameras. Consequently, he’s much better at doing the radio broadcasts than Ken Wilson was. And that’s without mentioning Chase at all.
I never heard a Dan Kelly game, so I can’t make any kind of all-time comparisons. But Radio Kerbs > Radio Wilson, hands down.
and radio
has thebenifit of the requirement of being a descriptive media. wilson would have been lit up by the television audience for doing a radio broadcast. not that wilson is the top blues announcer by any stretch.
if you want to get seriouos (and apparently i need to make the percent of humor of every line from now on)
the only announcer i’ve ever heard in any sport who could successfully do a single radio and tv broadcast and make both listening experiences great was kelly.
its why his banner is hanging and his face is in the hall.

this iS ST. LOUIS BLUES HOCKEY
if it weren’t for the time delay between radio and tv id listen to kerbs and chase and mute the tv
Hail to the Blues
It's possible with DVR
but a hassle to re sync adjust delay/live if change channels during intermissins. Sometimes worth the hassle when JK overacts to “A Shot” from the blueline barely on net
I still believe
The only way Cusumano will ever start actually caring the slightest bit about hockey is if the DeSmet team plays a pickup game of basketball.
Blackhawks are to be despised; Red Wings to be hated; and their fans to be ridiculed.
Frankie
…Is gonna find out who voted against him and have us whacked!!!
Frankie can’t even find a pair of socks.

Frankjie couldn't find his ass with both hands...

Bring out the Zamboni's
My vote is Kerbs- Must be to cold at Scottrade for Franks toupee. It’s always Katie or Rene in attendance and thats usually just skate/practice etc not post game.
"However, in the interest of full disclosure,
I DO have a tickle in my anus."
This is the only thing I can think about whenever I see the phrase ‘full disclosure’. 1 free milkshake to the first person who gets the reference.

I cheated and googled it...
So I lose. or I am a loser.. take your pick, it’s Friday. a Fuck you Friday too.
PC Load Letter? What the fuck does that mean?
Oh God.
Landslide of the century.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
Cusamano, pffffft
All that dude cares about is Catholic High School sports. Which is fine and good. No right minded hockey person should knowingly get behind him. I’m sure he’s a good dude but Kerbs is the fucking man.
Kerbs and Chase should be the TV guys. Hands fucking down.
North Co! North Co! North Co!
So did Cusumano have his whole family come here and vote for him, or what?
I honestly can’t believe that anyone who’s not a blood relative of Frankie would vote for him over Kerber in a matchup of hockey know-how and depth of coverage.
