Sunday Links: Nothing happening on Saturday equals another "Mostly open thread" edition
Thanks again to the army of responders who were willing to finish up the links yesterday after my innanets crashed. Also, my apologies for leaving the good readers hanging on the linkage.
Top notch journalism from here on out!
Fuck you, Saturday, for not having a damn thing happen.
Blues News:
- Some kids want to skate with Teej and Bergie. I'd rather see who can eat more Jack in the Box tacos, but, then again, I'm weird.
NHL News:
- Puck Padre takes a look at the 10 best centres in the league.
- ESPN asks if the Maple Leafs are worse off if they don't trade Kaberle. They won't.
Other Stuff:
- More from the bizarro world of Craigslist. Links like that could really get their own section.
- While we all revel in the great advances of technology, let us all remember that not even the iPhone is as cool as boobs.
- Even if you lose at a Lindsay Lohan in prison game, you still have the satisfaction of knowing that Lindsay Lohan failed.
- Why are people surprised that Darth Vader robbed a bank? He's a Sith Lord, y'know.
- Vandalism may never get old.
Video:
I wonder if this is how people feel when they realize they have to play against Backes. Thanks again for the videos, Spectr.
Open thread topic: What's your favorite place for pizza other than the national pizza chains? Tell us about your favorite hole in the wall place to grab a slice. Schrutebucks if anybody is able to peg one of my favorite spots for St. Louis style pizza out by 70 in St. Charles.
And I'll be around later on Sunday in case something happens that's linkworthy.

best in st. louis is Blackthorne pizza (also available at Lemmon’s), but I do love some Pantera’s. The one by me here in Ferguson has an AMAZING hot wing pizza that the use actual hot wing meat for.
We used to have a Panteras in BelleVegas.....
on the East end by BTHS East……but it closed years ago……

There's one here in Edwardsville.
I think it’s populated primarily by little league baseball teams.

I, having grown up in Franklin County...
… will swear by Joe Boccardi’s pizza in Eureka. My NoCo friends swear just as strongly by Faraci’s in Ferguson.
You will not find a better pizza in St Louis than Joanies in Soulard. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere and Very Blues fan friendly. I have become a regular there in the past year.

Sobotka
Did the Blues sign Sobotka? His first name wasn’t Iggy was it? Is he a cross between Bruce Shoebottom and Stan Jonathan? Help me out.

yikes
sorry to hear that.. i think burglars should rot in a separate jail, where all of their belongings are unprotected at all times, and all of the inmates constantly steal from each other. or fight to the death. either way.
Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky was in a production of The King and I? Well anyway, before the show, Brasky chloroforms the entire cast, and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.
I had a kid at the alternative school who was a total klepto..
… but don’t you touch his stuff. He went off one day about how someone went into his (unlocked) house while he was at the pool & stole his XBox… and all the KoolAid in the house. Kid was more pissed off about the KoolAid.

Oh, man.
All of which are replaceable except for that Teej jersey – I’d have to hunt those bastards down and ship them off to Detroit for that. I hope that they don’t get too much personal info off of your two computers – that’ll make for an even worse nightmare.
Insurance is covering, right?

Yes, Like you said everything is covered by my renters insurance.
…and naturally I’m more pissed bout the jersey. I’m bound to check EVERY ROAD OSHIE JERSEY this season at Scottrade.
Just kidding. But not really.

I beg to differ on the iPhone/Boobs comparison.
I don’t think that an iPhone can give you back problems by the time that you’re 40.

Here I sit, same as ever.
So I work at an NPR station on Sunday. Just hanging out checking the internet waiting for a break to say stuff. Usually the program is pretty terrible and NPRish. Today though had some decent topics for 2 shows. One was human trafficing. Did you know Missouri is one of the top states in the nation for prosecuting human trafficing? Was a cool segment. Now im listening to some dude interview a director about the movie salt which is based on Russian sleeper agents. Its an interesting interview but the guy has crap in his throat and he NEEDS TO COUGH, YOUR ON THE RADIO THE ONLY THING YOUVE GOT IS YOUR VOICE DONT MAKE IT SUCK. My god ive had asthma my whole life and can’t stand talking when my voice gets all hrhhghhr with phlegm in throat I don’t see how people can talk for 5 minutes like that. Why the hell didnt the producer clean that up or tell him hey your voice sucks get a drink of water, i will never know. Anyway back to spies. So when I went to LSU I had a super cool geography professor who had a kid in his class once who was from Russia. The kid had SUPER SUPER good english apparently, perfect annunciation his grammar was text book. My teacher was like “damn your english is perfect” and the kid said “It damn well better be the goverment spent enough time on it”. Apparently he was trained as a young child to be Americanized so he could be a spy someday. Badass.

You had to listen to Daniel Schorr for the last 15 years (RIP, by the way), and Joe Anonymous’s phlegm is over the top?

I'm not a huge pizza person
and I like the think crust. My 100% Italian side of the family would disown me if I spoke this aloud.
Anyway, I’m partial to Cicero’s in UCity even though it’s a commute for me. Hubby doesn’t like it as much but he sure likes the 53 beers on draft and 150 others in bottles.
Since we only make it there once or twice a yr we order tons and bring home lots of leftovers.
I love thick crust with salsicca sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, blk olives and artichoke hearts
An order of pasta con pollo and the house salad.
We bring home at least half the pizza and pasta.
Damn now I’m hungry for Ciceros

I'm partial to a little pizza joint here in my neck of the woods.
Cavataio’s here in Staunton. Pizza made by off-the-boat Sicilians. Excellent stuff.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
Completely freaking off-topic,
But I swear I saw on here the other day a fanpost or something where one of you dudes had a Halak #41 shirt. But my search skillz are apparently lacking, and I can’t find it.
O my brother, where did you acquire said item? I cannot find one on the interwebs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks!
I think he got it at the actual store....
At DrinkScotch……its not on the official NHL Store website yet…..

Aha...
I thought I had seen a picture of him taking it out of a box or something, so I assumed he ordered it from somewhere and had it shipped. But I’m probably making that up.
I will be making a detour to the DrinkScotch AQAP, and keeping my fingers crossed they actually have any left…
Pizza....
Non National chain…..
there can be only 1………

No "Pi" fans in here?
Granted, I’m probably partial because it’s the only place in the Lou where one can get a gluten-free pizza (as far as I know, anyway), but even so, their shit is damn tasty.
Thats my Pi.....

Faraci's
First had it 30-something years ago in the original hole-in-the-wall behind the Majik Market in Ferguson, before they moved to the new digs across Florissant Rd. Now patronize them in their new-er Ellisville location.
St. Louis style pizza, family joint. How family? They close for 2 weeks every July so the family can go on vacation.
