Brewer For Souray

A rumor from The Edmonton Sun. I think that would be a great move. Souray's no more brittle than Brewer, and seems to alternate healthy 20+ goal seasons with injury-filled disasters. He's due for another big one.

There's cap room to play with, and the move frees up some ice time and the captaincy. Pietrangelo is ready for a steady role and having him join Souray, EJ and Colaiacovo makes for a dynamic blueline. I've always liked Souray - he may be just as expensive and fragile as Brewer, but plays with plenty of emotion and physicality and has an absolute cannon.

Were trying to phase Brewer out though

The real kicker for me, if it was just a straight Brewer for Souray trade both teams taking the others salary dump is that Souray has 2 years left and Brewer only has one. I sort of expect us to drop Brewer next year in favor of a rookie so the 2 years is really a deal breaker for me. If they both had 1 year, yeah id take it.

Concur.

With a one year to one year exchange we could use the “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” cliche’. If it goes down anyway, I say we call Souray “Treasure”.
