Cardinals moving to KMOX...how much does that screw over the Blues?
With STLtoday reporting that the Cardinals are returning to KMOX....
So I remember back in the day when the Blues were on KMOX when the Cardinals were on there as well. I vaguely remember the Blues getting bumped all the time to random radio stations when the Cards were having a game. Then they switched over to 550 am and it was worse...I seem to remember key games getting bumped from the radio to other stations FOR GODDAMN SPRING TRAINING GAMES...PRESEASON! Games for the Blues clinching the playoffs versus stupid fucking games that don't even count.
Does anybody else see this happening again?
Maybe we can all hope that they'll pull their games to 101.1 ESPN....at least the Rams games are mostly not at the same time as the Blues.
Anybody have any guesses what will happen?

As long as I've got the internet for listening to games, I'll be okay.
Though if they manage to screw that up, I’ll be very pissed. I don’t have cable, so this makes the radio all the more important.

Blues won't get bumped
Chris Kerber tweeted: “Told by Blues that Blues post-season won’t be bumped or same other way around. Provisions were included as Blues knew this was possible”
Yep.

I’ve heard that before, unfortunately… if KMOX has to decide between the Blues and the Cardinals as to who gets the primo air time on any given date, you can bet your last nickel it’ll be the Cardinals, wether the Blues are in a playoff race or not.
For better or worse, the Cards own this town.

True
Didn’t the Blues get bumped for High School football too, or was I just drunk when that happened?
BOOM SHAKA HALAKA!
Since this makes me think of NBA Jam, I wonder if Halak will magically transform into a brick wall if he makes 10 saves in a row, ala Wayne Gretzky hockey on the N64.

No, I think I remember that as well..
Maybe we were both drunk.

Cards won't jump till 2011 anyway...
… but it’s good to know that if the Blues make the playoffs, they won’t get bumped for spring training games.
Anyone know when the Blues’ contract with KMOX is up? Right now they’re buying the time and selling their own advertising. I wonder if competition from the FM side of the dial might help the Blues to cut a better deal next time around.
I have no clue how long the Blues-KMOX contract is, or if there's an out clause . . .
but if the contract ends at the end of this season, or there’s an out clause, you bet they’re jumping ship. I suggested 550 before, but 101.1 would be a viable option as well.
That’s even IF they’ll honor the contract regarding Cards/Blues postseason games. I think I’ve heard that line before . . . and I’m not sure I believe it now, either. Best way to eliminate confusion? Go somewhere else!
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
I don't know about 101.1
Don’t they broadcast the Rams games? I know they’re only on Sundays but then wouldn’t you run the risk of them getting bumped for the rams?

The NHL generally schedules around the NFL.
The Blues have four regular-season games played on Sundays during the NFL regular season, all starting from 5pm-8pm.
11/7 @NYR, 6pm
12/5 @VAN, 8pm
12/26 NAS, 6pm
1/2 DAL, 5pm
The Rams’ schedule on those weeks:
11/7 Bye Week
12/5 @ARI, 3:15 kickoff
12/26 SF, 12pm kickoff
1/2 @SEA, 3:15 kickoff
So just on the basis of default scheduling, there’s only one conflict, on January 2. If the Blues shared airwaves with the Rams, they could have bumped that game to one of the next two off-days to resolve it.
If 101.1 wants the Blues, they’ll find a way to make it happen. And since one of the primary reasons for a Blues move would be to avoid scheduling conflicts, I’d expect to see contractual promises to that effect.
As long as no one gets shoved around, I'm cool with it.
KTRS kind of sucked anyway, and I can actually get KMOX here. I’d love to be able to listen to both the Blues and Cards games if I’m driving around at night.
If the Blues are the ones to be bumped (and I’m sure that they will be) I’ll be very not happy about it, though.
