Things are looking up. Hockey season is closer to returning every day. Summer and the swamp ass are slowly become a thing of the past. Life is getting good, friends.

  • The way the Blues front office tells it, Paul Kariya and Keith Tkachuk were holding the Blues back. Also, PD, find a new David Backes pic. The Brad Boyes facewash is from spring 2009. [St. Louis Post-Dispatch]
  • The Blues prospects lost to Dallas 4-1. [Blues]
  • Alex Pietrangelo is putting on his grown-ass man pants. He's no longer a "prospect." At least, that's what the Blues want you to think. [Blues]
  • Non-prospect Pietrangelo is blogging from Traverse City. [Blues]
  • David Backes loves animals. [Examiner.com]

Donut King and I agree with this Detroit fan. Calvin Johnson was robbed. You put two feet, a hand and your ass down in the endzone, you have a touchdown. Language not safe for work.

Hockey season is almost here. I can't hear this song without hearing BLUUUUUES HOCKEY.

I've been told . . .

that at the NFL rules committee meetings in the offseason, they talked about that exact situation and whether or not to change the rule. They discussed it. They didn’t change the rule. And then THAT happened.

I have a feeling there will be a rule change in NEXT offseason . . . if they even have a season to worry about, that is.

To the informed, unbiased observer though . . . that looked like a horseshit call. That’s a touchdown.

And how often do I agree with Detroit fans? Seriously . . . .

St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.

I saw at FOX Sports...

…and how often do I agree with anything on the FAUX Network…

…the the NFL’s former Director of Officiating ruled that an incomplete pass, based on the current rule.

If they change it, they change it… but as the rule currently stands, that’s an incomplete pass. It’s not like the Lions are the first team to ever get that call go against them, and Da Bears need the win.

Something we can both agree on, I think… the “new” Broncos, and their alleged “coach,” suck. How could they not beat the goddamn Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday?

Maybe...

…Tebow is a double agent for the state of Florida, yeah he didn’t play a whole lot yesterday but still it makes you wonder…

As for the call, yeah it looked like a touchdown and it sucks it got taken away. He did catch the ball but per the rule he had to keep control after he hit the ground. I have always hated this rule and hopefully it gets changed.

BOOM SHAKA HALAKA!

Since this makes me think of NBA Jam, I wonder if Halak will magically transform into a brick wall if he makes 10 saves in a row, ala Wayne Gretzky hockey on the N64.

2 carries. 2 yards.

Yeah. That’s fucking wonderful for a 24th overall pick.

Guh.

Anyway, I still maintain it was a catch. Mike Pereira only tells about half the story, but all of what the referee is thinking in the situation. Sure it may have been correct to the letter of the rule, but the rule is pretty damn vague and almost impossible to actually follow correctly if it had to be applied in person . . . i.e. yesterday afternoon.

St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

I downloaded the march from the Blues site.

I think it’s under the downloads section. I saved it to my HD, loaded it on my phone, and ta da – instant march! The goal horn’s an effective alarm too.

Some good inside info

On Panger’s blog.

He is funny, dry, sarcastic. The fans and media -most of them – don’t ever see this.

So maybe if Brewer showed that just a little bit all this questioning will go away. He reminds me so much of Bulger. Never showed any emotion high or low so it looks like they don’t care. You know that isn’t true but it just nags at you.

Believe it or not, Brewer is pretty fiesty

One particular example is when scrums will develop around one of the nets: Brewer coasts in after play is whistled dead, starts chirping it up with opposing players, face-washes a bit and maybe throws in a couple jabs, and soon the scrum becomes a mob. Other team gets a minor, and Brewer starts a power-play for the Blues. I noticed this happening the sole time that it showed how experienced Brewer actually was — Polak ended up taking the bait and getting the Blues a minor, putting us on the penalty-kill and eventually allowing a goal.

I, for one, like the BrewBot. Not enough that I want him back on the team next year (barring a great turn-around this season, of course), but I like to see him succeed and hope to see him find a good team in free agency. The guy has his faults: I remember during the 3 March 2010 match against the Hawks, a bouncing puck came towards him while he was at the offensive blue-line — and he swung at it. He missed, of course, and allowed the Hawks to get a breakaway which led to a goal. I remember my sister texted me: “Damn’t Brewer!” I replied, “He’ll make up for it,” and one period later Brewer winds up a shot from the point and got the puck straight into the Hawks net.

Hopefully, with his first summer of real training in a long time, Brewer can make a huge impact this season and win himself a big contract with another good team.

P.S. From that same game, I have scientific proof that Steen and McClement have damn good line chemistry. Just look at that pirouette!

P.P.S That game was pretty good now that I think about it: See Johnson. See Johnson pinch. Pinch, Johnson, Pinch!

What I learned from Panger's blog

dropped him a couple of notches in my book.

It just irritates me when well-off people need to remind working folks (which the vast majority of Blues fans are) that they are vacationing in Tuscany. Then another gratuitous reference to a type of Chianti just screams “snob” at me. I thought Panger was regular folks. I’m less inclined to say hi to him when i pass him in the mezzanine now.

Yeah, I’m grumpy. It’s Monday. Deal.

Rec'd for extreme justice.

The Frozen Kitties just can’t handle MSU. The Ice Bears won all three matchups last year by scores of 8-3, 7-2, and 6-0.

And since all the games with SLU and SIUE are in Springfield this year, the day after Thanksgiving will be MSU’s only appearance in the St. Louis area this season.

by BleedBlue42 on Sep 14, 2010 3:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Crap... I'd have liked to see SIUE-MSU get it on...

Glad to see that SIUE still has their team, thiygh… that was in some doubt a year or so ago.

Hmm. Goal Music decisions.

We either need the horns from the St. Louis Blues March to play when the Blues score a goal, or we need the refrain from The Urge’s “Open All Night” as the goal music.

One lends itself to tradition, the other lends itself to alcoholism. I’m not sure which one to choose.

"When the Blues Go Marching In"...

was due to this guy…

Frank St. Marseille… and organist Norm Kramer. St. Marseille scored a big goal, Kramer played “When the Saints Go Marching In”, and the entire crowd started singing!

I was at the Redlands Bowl here

it’’s our local amphitheater and the Marines Corps band was playing from the Stumps (29 Palms). The 3rd song in was the St. Louis Blues March. I got the goose pimples and yelled out LET’S GO BLUES!! Naturally the tea and crumpet crowd “shushed” me down but somewhere near the front someone yelled back LET’S GO BLUES!!. I spent the whole intermission trying to find that person with no luck.

Know what that reminds me of?

Last offseason, WWE came to the Scottrade, and during one match the wrestlers ran backstage and… well, I’ll leave this one to the video. Be sure to have sound: the crowd is what really makes this video great.

Man, I’m on a YouTube binge today.

Best video I've seen today is.....

The San Bruno gas explosion in CA, the news is showing a grocery store and how the customers reacted to the fireball. One fat dude runs for the store exit and trips and does a chin slide into the news racks. I’m dying here playing it over and over, that floor had such a good wax job he looks like a bowling ball hitting the pins. Dude in red shirt if you see the video on news.

For the love of god, someone get that up on YouTube ASAP.

It’s amazing how some commenters, not here but elsewhere, basically blame everything on who gets the “C.”
“Brewer’s had the C, the Blues haven’t won the Stanley Cup. WHY HAVEN”T THEY GIVEN IT TO SOMEONE ELSE????!!!!1111"

Blues march...

the version of this song I heard all the years I was growing up and listening to KMOX is slightly different from the Glenn Miller version above…I’m not a music expert, but as I recall, the one I remember is maybe a beat faster than this one…of course, there are no bad version of “St Louis Blues”, as far as I’m concerned…I just love that song!

And even today, I cannot hear “When the Saints Go Marching In”, without substituting “Blues”…I remember some electrifying moments in the 70’s when the whole building was singing that song after a Blues victory.
