I, for one, would move to Boozetown in a heartbeat.
It’s a win-win situation.
And yes, that clip is all sorts of awesome.

I know it's "official" Blues News now, and all that, but...
…your humble blogger broke the news of the Blues’ Traverse City roster here at this very blog almost three weeks ago.
Just a reminder.

you mean someone else: http://www.redwingscentral.com/camps/2010-11/rosters/stlouis.php
broke the news of the Blues’ Traverse City roster at some other blog and you, humble blogger, linked to it and then said you broke it?

No, actually, what I'm saying is...
…that I was the first person to have brought any awareness of this information to a site where actual Blues fans would look for that sort of thing.
Not the “professionals” at the P-D or the other “mainstream”, not the Blues themselves.
Me, a wretched, miserable low-life blogger.
But I’ll certainly be glad to stop doing it, if you like. If you’re happy waiting three weeks for the professionals to tell you something, in a place where you’d actually go to look for it, be my guest.

You my dear Brian
are all kinds of awesomeness.
I, for one, am very appreciative of your diligence in keeping us updated with this information.

Heads up
Incase you guys hadn’t heard, SbNation is doing a whole thing where they voted on 2 new fake teams to join the league. Now they are doing fake mock expansion draft.
Details are here http://www.sbnation.com/2010/8/26/1652008/2010-nhl-mock-expansion-draft-sb-nation

Just because Jay McClement is the best defensive forward in the NHL doesn't mean he should win the Selke.
Haven't seen a post here about the Blues' protected roster...
… at a glance, it seems like there might be some interesting choices, especially if you want to protect the Conkblocker.
Don't want to spoil anything
But as of last discussions, the Powers that Be were going to protect Cam Janssen and call it a day.

Boyes would be a waste of a protection slot.
His was a pretty good contract at 40 goals; it’s craptacular at 15. I don’t see him being taken in an expansion draft, not unless Glen Sather is one of the expansion GMs.
I found this note scrawled on the window
“Protect Brewer.” What does it mean?

I think it means "Oil... can..."
Wouldn’t want him to rust up, would ya?
The protection of Brewer is the bubble wrap when we ship his fucking robot ass outa here.

Can we protect Conkers?
We have to expose a goalie with at least 10 games played in the past year, or 25 in the past two years. We don’t have any on our roster other than Conk and Halak.
I’d protect:
Silent Jay, Abby, Teej, Perron, Schnoz, Backes, Partystarter, Cam, and Sobotka? for forwards
Colaiacovo, Jackman, Eeej, Roman, oh wait, this won’t add up…
And Halak.
We just can’t maximize our protected player list. We don’t have 9 forwards and 5 defenseman with the required amount of games with an extra defensemen to expose. So let’s protect the 9 forwards, and four defensemen and Halak. This way, they can steal Brewer. And it’s awesome.
The exposed players: Brewer, Winchester, D’Agostini, Beej, Boyes, and Conklin.
Sometimes, I wonder why hockey came south of St. Louis, and then I realize, I'm south of St. Louis. Coincidence, I think not.
Substitute Janssen for Crombeen...
… and I’m on board with that list of exposed players.
In all honesty, I feel like Conklin will be taken, possibly Brewer and Boyes if they’re willing to take the contracts / ineffectiveness. I doubt Beej would get picked, and we don’t have as many enforcers as I’d like. Fuck it. The real reason is that I like Cam and would rather have the asshole on our team as opposed to in Winnipeg or Quebec. Fuck Canada.

no one WILL be taken
since it’s a fake draft. just an fyi.

really?
I didn’t know that.
I thought that Canada got two new hockey teams. And SLGT had completely ignored it.
My bad.

glad i could help
seriously though, the exercise is pretty pointless. the last thing the nhl needs is expansion. besides, if this were real, you know the blues would get fucked and lose everyone due to some rule.

Conks is probably the likeliest choice to get picked.
But you figure that most teams would only be protecting one goalie, so there will be a lot of options for the fake GMs to choose from.
As for leaving Janssen unprotected… the fake GMs are a stathead and a journalist-turned-blogger-turned-journalist. Neither of them are going to be particularly interested in Janssen’s brand of intransigence; they’re going to have to scrape together cohesive offensive units. Crombeen’s offensive abilities are light-years ahead of the Caminator’s; thus he’s a much more attractive target.
from the internal emails
jackman is gone from us. i dont think conklin interests either GM.
should i have said spoiler alert?

Oh?
I ’d have expected Jackman to be one of the five protected d-men, along with EJ, Carlo, Polak, and Strachan. (Pietrangelo and all the system prospects have less than 50 games of NHL experience, and are thus undraftable if I read the rules right.)
This begs the question of exactly who did get protected…
Just heard on NHL Home Ice
That the Habs just locked up Price on a 2 year contract @ 2.6 mil per, if I’m not mistaken.
BOOM SHAKA HALAKA!
Since this makes me think of NBA Jam, I wonder if Halak will magically transform into a brick wall if he makes 10 saves in a row, ala Wayne Gretzky hockey on the N64.
