You know I have been asked by my family, friends, and colleagues what the true purpose of preseason is and I just stood there thinking of the answer. Its about adjusting right? Maybe getting back up to speed, evaluating lines, putting together a roster? Isnt there something called practice? These preseason games give everyone including the slightly bias referees a turn to play against a team that is rebuilt or re-organized, sure getting in the groove and skill sharpening is good, but has Jaroslav Halak played against the Aves in a Blues jersey? No. And being able to the mindset of NHL hockey is hard to grasp, however in doing so it increases awareness of everyone, and from the fans perspective its fun to watch.
Tonight the Blues debut of Jaroslav Halak, previous Canadien all star will be good for everyone to judge the fallout or fate of the season, with additions and deficits the Blues need to get chemistry back, and with all those fans watching rookies watch out for that skate lace.
All in all the preseason is fun and enjoyable for everyone, a time for fans and players to gain the trust of the team. Go Blues, Aves are no problem for Halak, take care of them out there.
