11 Complaints for NHL11

tonight i got antsy, and decided to go to wallyworld at midnight to buy the game for my 360. i was lucky enough to snatch up the last copy, and rushed home and got started. apparently, i SUCK at this game, cause i can't win for shit. i'm starting to believe that either my controller or internet sucks (anytime i push a button i experience a short delay before action that complies with said button actually occurs). but i have made some other assessments and i figure why not borrow an idea and present to you, the Top 11 complaints for NHL11.

11. I can't fucking do that stupid curl and drag move that everyone I play against seems to perform so well.

10. Brad Boyes hits the post 9 times out of 10. ...oh wait

9. Fuck Chicago is forced down my throat every time I start up the game.

8. Fuck EA for #9.

7. Hockey Ultimate Team is a good idea, but use of the acronym HUT just makes me want pizza.

6. Nathan Oystrick is in the Blues default top 6 D-men as opposed to Strachan.

5. Brad Winchester is on the PK on the Blues in the NHL.

4. Too many goddamn penalties. I'd love to play more than 5 minutes of even strength each game. Plus Brad Winchester is on the PK. Oh I mentioned that?

3. Toews isn't the son of Christ, but you'd think the contrary by the way his skill is blatantly exaggerated. Fuck him and his cover.

2. Eric Brewer is much better than in real life blows.

1. SIXTY FUCKING DOLLARS!!! I know that all new hyped up games are normally a pretty penny, but FUCK ME that stings the wallet. Its cool though, I just won't eat for a week or so.

So can someone explain what is so great about Toews. Yeah he had a great postseason, but in the regular season, he got outscored by his DEFENSIVE teammate. And he gets all this elite player bullshit, he was ranked 35th in points in the NHL, not very elite to me. And he is a captain. You know who else is a captain? Eric fucking Brewer. So would someone tell me why Hawk Fans, EA, and NHL fans everywhere, think this dbag, who got his ass kicked by David “Fuck Em Up” Backes, is the gift of god to hockey. Also if you really want to fight David Backes, you probably shouldn’t be a captain.

I was going to go into a real post about why Toews is elite, but realized it'd be a waste of time

Instead, just two things:

1. Hockey is not baseball. Stats hardly ever tell the whole story.

2. You aren’t named top forward in the Olympics, win a Conn Smythe, and become the youngest member of the Triple Gold Club unless you’re a pretty good hockey player.

3. It’s easier when you do those things in a small sample. Right? I can’t name an elite forward who hasn’t already hit 70 points at least once. Toews hasn’t hit 70 points in three seasons. And if “he’s good defensively” well then so are Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Backstrom, and Mikko Koivu. Toews isn’t productive enough offensively yet.

My only complaint thus far?

That I went to Wal*Mart at midnight and all they had were three copies for XBox – I’m a Playstation guy. And even if I had an XBox, I would’ve lost out on getting one to a group of Dude-Bro ‘Hawks fans! (Although one of them was also looking for PS3, so we talked a bit and he was pretty cool.) Then I drove about 20 minutes to the next Wal*Mart and they didn’t have any copies!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to Game Stop so I can get it while also selling my copy of NHL 10 to help cover the cost. You know, probably like $5 of it, or something.

I thought I blow on faceoffs. It’s a totally different beast this year, but I think I’ve found my move of just tying them up and having a teammate take it. The tape-to-tape two line passes are a little more difficult; there’s no magnetic long passing. You have to hold the R2 pass button a bit longer to get some oomph on them, which is nice. Too many broken sticks, but I can turn that down.

Is it enough different from 10 to really make it worthwhile?

I mean I can trade Halak to the Blues on my copy of 10 otherwise.

It's a GREAT game. So much more different from '10 than '09 was from '10 if that makes sense.

Game is awesome

Although I agree some of the default roster decisions on the Blues are strange to say the least.

Since this makes me think of NBA Jam, I wonder if Halak will magically transform into a brick wall if he makes 10 saves in a row, ala Wayne Gretzky hockey on the N64.

I was just playing a game

A Philadelphia player dumped the puck up the ice to Brewer. It landed on Brewer’s stick. He bobbled it, let it go through his legs, and allowed another Philly player to take the puck up ice on a breakaway against Halak, scoring.

This game is so realistic.
