Arch City
Hey everyone, first timer here. Just had a question. Has St. Louis ever been called the Arch City? I know you have the STL Arch and its the gateway to the west and all that, but has it ever been referred to as the Arch City?

On the CB airwaves many moons ago STL was called
Gateway City. Chicago was Windy City, Nashville Music City and Los Angeles was Shakey Town. Never heard Arch City anywhere that I can remember.
Just a chew toy for the hockey gods
nope
I’ve never heard of it called Arch city.
Gateway city was pretty common. Many times it was ‘St Louis, gateway city to the west’

Rarely
There’s a few local businesses that have used Arch City as part of their name. And actually, there’s a broomball team in my forest park league with “Arch City” in their name too.
But I can’t say I hear locals refer to it as such ever… its the Gateway City if anything.

If I've heard it as Arch City, it was very rarely.
“The Gateway City” or “Gateway to the West” is more acceptable.
Hell, even “Home of Kyle Wellwood’s Hidden Toasted Rav Stash” would work.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.

…sorry. I so hate having my lunch at 1:15. Anywho, I like to think of us as Arch Nemesis to Chicago. Or we will be, once we get the rest of our team back and stop sucking in 14th place. THEN we will be.

I've heard The Mound City...
…but never Arch City.
