Blues beat Penguins in OT; Pietrangelo rules all
Look, we know you're all out at the bars anyway and just checking in on your phones, so here's all you need to know:
- Scott Nichol fired a shot so hard it broke a defenseman's stick and still went in.
- Jamie Langenbrunner did something, scoring a nice goal on the doorstep.
- Ian Cole played his best game as an NHLer, especially since he seemed to be matched up against Evgeni Malkin all night.
- T.J. Oshie played another great, active game, got hurt again, but returned to the game and didn't lose a step. Gotta get these papers. Time to get paid.
- Barret Jackman is still better than Eric Brewer. And he's still better at hockey than you are at whatever you do best.
- Brian Elliott allowed only two goals and that's tied for the most goals he has given up in a game all year. Cripes.
- Alex Pietrangelo showed again that he can jump up when required, making a beautiful read to get to the net ahead of his checker, Jordan Staal, receive a perfect pass from Vladimir Sobotka (who was great again, 'natch) and rather than panic and throw it on net, held it and scored the OT GW into a virtually empty net.
Go get drunk. Turkey tomorrow. Cal and Gary's Flames on Friday.
Enjoy this:

as much better as halak has played (i think scientifically the correct comparison word is “scads”), i’m really not sure elliott deserves to be considered a number 2 goalie at this moment

his slow start had hurt him
Its nice to have 2 very damn good goalies in our camp. Halak has been very good for a few Weeks.

better than the best?
elliott has the best goalie stats int he nhl, and he wasnt a typical backup – plays only agains tthe bj’s of the world, some of those games were against good teams like, oh, the pens, and he played back-to-back etc.

screw NHL.com
Can they suck Crosby’s dick any more?
Oh wait, they can.

“Damn, the Blues won. Oh wait, I know, let’s slap a photo that has Pietrangelo in it but lets not use the one where he scores the game winner. Let’s find one with Crosby in it too. Cause even though he mostly sat in the penalty box and didn’t get a point, this game was about him.”

Anyone else find it funny
That EJ scored the game winner in OT last time we played the pens, and this time petro scored the game winner?

From Crosby after the game:
"I’d like to think I’m out there trying to score and not out there trying to take penalties or agitate, so if those are three infractions then there were definitely a handful on their side, too," Crosby said. "I’m fine with calling it tight as long as it’s tight both ways, and I don’t know if that was the case tonight."
Looks like he’s completely back to normal.

I live in Hawaii, but have been considering a move to St. Louis. I go back and fourth on it…games like this make me think it might be worth it just to get some season tickets. Well, that and baked ravioli…I am really getting tired of the food out here too.
Spam and pineapple gets old after a while, eh?
My old neighbor was a Seabee in World War II. His battalion was stationed out of Pearl Harbor, and he grew to hate pineapple and spam.

aren't canaries used in coal mines because they die from C02 easily?
so their deaths would warn the miners to gtfo…?

NHL.com can suck it "Blues Sneak Past Crosby, Penguins"
The blues didn’t sneak past shit! Crosby, and everyone else in that building, is fully aware that the Blues came to town, and knocked them down a peg or two last night. Lets Go Blues

From Consol Energy Center
Thouroghly enjoyed the first two periods of hockey at the CEC with Crosby in the box and the crowd completely silent as the Blues dominated the play. Good win that makes seeing a game in enemy terrority alot of fun. How about Reaves going to 3-0 with 3KOs on the season?
