Erik Johnson Packs His Bags: A statistical breakdown of the trade
Normally I only cover Oilers stuff, but this Erik Johnson/McClement vs. Stewart/Shattenkirk trade is not only a blockbuster, but one that seems to be fairly unbalanced after I dive into the numbers below.

Interesting analysis.
This gives me a clearer picture as to why Avs fans would be so apoplectic about the trade.
St. Louis Game Time . . . I need another beer.
The Throwdown Lowdown Report, only on The Bluenote Zone.
And I can also write things in 140 characters or fewer.
If I’m the Blues, I’m probably liking this trade. I think EJ has been supplanted in almost every way imaginable by Pietrangelo’s play. McClement was also similarly replaceable, so if you have sold EJ while his value is still quite high, and he never recovers, it’s a great trade for the Blues.

i think if everyone sees this post
and reads it they will be a bit happier
Pujols takes out "I" in BIG and "A" in MAC, previously considered to be an unyielding, consonant threat
Really interesting look
And this part is something those watching him regularly know, and (for me at least) wonder if it tells something more about him:
We see that Johnson is facing bottom tier competition amongst the STL D core. This really surprised me, as I always had the impression he was their tough minutes guy and tough zone start guy. It surprised me enough that I took a look at last year, and it turns out he was 5th on the team for Corsi Rel QoC and had a mammoth 60% zone start.I think that has always been the projection/hope with him, but they’ve got other guys they like to use in that category, meanwhile even in better positions his offense wasn’t coming this year.
Hard to say if he’s just temporarily stalled — the year off with the knee injury may have been a factor, as may be the emergence of a younger and at this point better D-an in Petro — or if he isn’t and will not ever be the guy they hoped for. In which case they sold early but … maybe they sold high?

If EJ can’t find his early form, I’d say yea, they sold high in terms of the other GM’s valuation of him.
