Why in God's name would we do that instead of trading him for peanuts?
Are we that strapped for cash?
I am confused......
…..why waivers vs trade?
"Brad Winchester playing on a line with Perron and Berglund is like the fat kid who you invite to play one day because you didn't have enough skaters, yet you don't have the heart to tell them to leave the next few times you play. Damn you Andy Murray." -Author Unknown
My theory is...
… no SPECIFIC team wants to trade for him, or that the ones that show interest don’t really have anything up to par or better than him to trade, highly unlike the Johnson/Mclement case. I guess they decided to put him on waivers for, what seems like, “the hell of it/shits and giggles” since they won’t get anything from the team that claims Conks.

I guess
that means no takers for Conklin and Jaro is now ready.
I’m surprised nobody wanted him though.

I suppose this is also a huge vote of confidence for Bishop.
Or just saving money before we get a UFA backup for next year?
king kong on waivers as well
sturm claimed by Caps? that could get silly.

It's cool.
I did the same thing with Marek Svatos being on waivers. If you go to your post manager, you can click the x by it to delete that post.

I just checked the Blues site
And there’s nothing on there about it. I don’t know about this one. I can’t find anything about it other than the article, and it seems kind of stupid to waive him instead of trade him.

From Rutherford's twitter:
“Armstrong on putting Conklin on waivers: ‘We just felt that there was opportunity to see if a team wants Ty for the rest of the season, and if that occurs, then it’s an opportunity for Ben Bishop.’”
How can any return be worse than no return? Get SOMETHING for him if you don’t want him.

I guess the implication is that no one wanted to trade for him. Maybe they knew we were likely to waive him or maybe they just don’t want a goalie with that save percentage.
Either way, I’ll miss Conklin for his great attitude and being by all accounts a fantastic teammate. I’ll also miss the way he played when he was on.

Seconded.
Conks has been a great guy and has stolen some big road games, but it’s time for Bish to make a statement for himself. Putting Conks on waivers is a clear statement that 29 teams weren’t interested in surrendering a draft pick to get him. (And unfortunately, given Conks’ play in the last few weeks, that isn’t a surprise.)
Makes sense
Conks trade value is seemingly non-existant right now. Bishop as our 2 works out.

Conks
love heckling him, but he’s a great guy…hope he does well where ever he goes
exciting time for ben bishop though!
So are we officially throwing in the towel for the season?
Or just letting guy walk who wont be back year?
He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.

88% save percentage, 3.11 GAA
i guess we are throwing in the towel huh…Bish couldnt do any worse

love the guy
but his numbers are exactly sparkly this year

Suppoose Conklin clears waivers, and the Blues sent him to Peoria...
Seeing as how Jake The Snake has lost 10 of his last 12 starts, would it be so bad having a veteran mentor in Peoria for him full-time, as opposed to a part-time goalie coach (Hirsch) who’s effectiveness in working with Halak has been questionable?
That seems to make sense to me, anyway.

Who is this Hirsch guy, anyway?
I mean, my hockey knowledge is nowhere near what I know (or at least think I know) about football, but in football it’s well-known that the position coaches are the most important in terms of a player’s development and skills. Is it the same way in hockey? Because what I’ve seen this year is Conklin, Halak, & Allen all getting worse – and at least Halak & Conklin having serious issues with puck handling and positioning (i.e., things that seem to me to be “coachable”). Maybe that’s all coincidence, or it’s entirely possible I just don’t understand how goalie development works.
Just curious.
Figuring out a goalie
is worse than trying to decipher British car wiring. I’d hate to be a goalie coach, rubber rooms at the state hospital have more stable people.

It ain't that hard to figure out a goalie...
You just have to be one yourself.

The number three goalie on a thirteenth place team put on waivers.
And he is a UFA after the season. Makes perfect sense to me.
I love ya Conks, but best of luck elsewhere.
