From Herm B. in our Winterland Facebook group:
"The original St. Louis Blues Hockey School held at Winterland Ice Arena. This is from 1967. I attended both summers of 1967 and 1968.
Pictured St. Louis Blues Instructors were: Red Berenson, Noel Picard, Bill McCreary and Jimmie Roberts. Barclay Plager was also an instructor (but not in this photo).
I remember waiting to get on the ice and watching Noel and Barclay standing at opposing blue lines taking slap-shots at each other. Red Berenson and Ron Koblick (Corky Koblick's dad) became very good friends (Mr. Koblick was also the man who drafted me to the Comets). In the summer of 1977, Red and Mr. Koblick produced the "Red Berenson Hockey School" and I worked at the school for the two weeks it was open. Bruce Affleck was also an instructor with Red. Great memories from Winterland!"

If anyone recognizes anyone we're looking to put some names to these faces. Thanks.

As you can imagine this school was jammed packed
and I about died not getting in. I howled like a scalded dog so mom and pop took my azz to Canada for school. That was kewl but there was no Bobby or Barc Plager or Noel Picard in those schools.

Red Berenson and Jim Roberts still look pretty much exactly the same...
Those guys are all about 3-4 years older than I was at the time, between my age and my uncle’s age (born 1955).

A friend of mine was lucky enough to get into the school
He said many of the kids could hardly skate and Bob Plager started some drills and went, “Oh shit, this ain’t gonna work.” So they switched up to easier drills and spent a lot of time teaching kids how to skate. Hockey was that new to STL.

No goalies?
Whatta gyp! (I kid, I kid) Poor goalies, not having a school back then, having to learn the art of goaltending on the streets from some shifty guy who says he’s really Canadian, but why does he have a van with Michigan plates and California emissions and why isn’t there any free candy in there like he promised? The next thing you know, kids are out on street corners in full gear offering to “defend your crease” for five bucks or “stone you for sixty” in a “shutout” for twenty! Goalies don’t have a chance in a world like that unless they’re tougher than Don Cherry on English syntax. It’s hard out here to be a goalie.

They had goalies
not sure why there isn’t one in this group pic. Some of the lucky older kids not in the school got to shag pucks for the Blues players in drills. We was some jealous kids when that school was going on.
