Philly Has To Deal?

First Off, this is my first time posting on a site I've been reading for the last two years.  I hope I'm doing this right, I don't typically comment online....

But as for the point of the post - with Philly taking on Bryzgalov now, if they sign him to anything even close to his last contract (roughly 4.25 million a year), they'll have to move one or more pieces to accommodate him.  With Bryz apparently wanting to get paid like a top star, rather than a top goalie, they may be looking at 5 or 6 million a year for him, and at this point Philly can't possibly go another year with that core and no reliable, proven goalie.

My question is - unstable ownership issues that potentially limit spending aside - Do you folks see the Blues making a run at any of Jeff Carter, Danny Briere, or Kimmo Timonen? Provided Leino resigns there, which they are rumoured to prefer.

With Philly being up so close to the cap as it is, before signing Bryzgalov (they are under 500 thousand away), the three I mentioned are likely the ones they will prefer to deal.  Carter is always the big name trade bait, and has been mentioned basically weekly for years. Though his contract  is preposterously long, at 5.2 million a year its not a horrible cap number.

Briere is a bit older and I'd be leery about paying him 6.5 million a year till the age of 37, and the same goes for Timmonen, who is at 6.3 million a year (cap hit) for his last two years of a deal which expires at the age of 38. The real money is only a total of 8 Million, which isn't so bad, especially with the Blues so close to the salary floor, and lacking a real second veteran after Jackman.

These numbers are from Cap Geek.

I've mostly posted the numbers as opposed to legit scouting about these players - but I feel like you all know what kinda guys they are anyway.

A trio of Happy Meal, Backes/Stewart, and Carter has the makings of a scoring line that can play any style of offense to create a goal.

Back to my question - What are your thoughts on these unlikely, but possible, targets for the club? And what kinda package do you think we'd have to offer to end up with them?

Hope I did this all correctly.
