Blues sign Cheechoo
According to Strickland, the Blues have signed Jonathan Cheechoo to a one year, two way contract. I'm sure I read somewhere that Cheechoo had been working extremely hard to get himself in the best shape he could - whatever the circumstances, this seems to be a very low risk move for the Blues.
Start him in Peoria and see what happens. It just struck me as strange that a guy goes from a 50 goal season down to practically nothing.
I must admit I have my fingers crossed that he'll make it.

Interesting
If nothing else it will be a low risk high reward potential situation. Wouldn’t have called this, but it should be a great depth signing for Peoria.

Fueled. These new shores burn. Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more.
Im pretty interested
Seems like the only problem we could face is that he doesn’t regain any of his form and stays in Peoria.
If that happens...
… he’s a replacement for Dave Scatchard or Graham Mink.
Hopefully this is a boost to the Peoria offense, and potentially creates a fill-in when the injury bug bites.
I like this signing.
With all the luck that the Blues have, he should return to 50-goal scorer form. …wait a minute…
Anywho,
nothing like a good comeback story if he can find his speed again.

wat?
no one wants the cheechoo inna box, or the 39 year old foward with square skate blades. or or or the goalie that moves like jelly?
And a harvest of righteousness is grown from the seed of peace planted by peacemakers.

I'd like to hear this from a more... ahem... ''reliable'' source than Kermit the Mouthpiece...
…but if true, I agree, it’s a great depth signing for Peoria. And if Cheechoo can get his groove back, that’s even better.

Footspeed
Apparently, to combat the issue which has basically submarined his career (his knees), he’s been doing a ton of footspeed drills to improve his skating. Should it be effective than there’s no reason he won’t be a good offensive player in the NHL (if there’s room/need), or a really good offensive contributor in the AHL. I feel like he’d be good for the young kids too because he has now experienced the feeling of losing your grip on the NHL. That changes people.
For the money it's worth the shot
Worst that could happen he tanks in a couple of games and gets sent back to Peoria and we are out 250,000 and Peoria gets a decent player
And who knows if he gets a chance and goes apeshit like Emery did last year when given the chance the Blues look like geniuses.
No one knows why, but second only to eating the brains of the living, the dead love affordable pre-fab furniture.
I have it on authority of at least one Sens fan who thinks he's done.
But damnit, if he’s not . . . this is a spectacular signing. Very low-risk.

All I really have to say is "Go Cheech Go"
I’ll be taking in a couple of Rivermen games this year. I’ve always liked the guy for some reason, probably the idea of overcoming a weakness through being more stubborn than the problem. If he can do it, all the better.

Always has and probablly will be my favorite Shark
I hope he makes your team eventually. Maybe as an injury replacement or a scoring threat on the third line.
Cheechoo has one hell of a wrist shot, but his problem is his skating. If he had a stronger first step, maybe he can be a top 6 forward again.
Heres something to get you all excited…

I love the Blues
Seriously. Maybe I’m a homer, but every single move we’ve made this off-season seems incredibly smart. There is no way this move can really go bad without something very weird happening. If he works out in the NHL, great. Complete best case is him as a 20 goal scoring 3rd liner, and that’d be great.
But even the worst case isn’t bad. a former 50 goal scorer playing in the AHL, letting the young players sponge of his experience. He was a good player at the AHL level last year.
I love this freaking move.
Is willing to go to the mattresses with the lot of yous.
I don't want to jinx anything
But Army has been making some unbelievably awesome moves ever since he took over. Remember when he first took over and we we traded Palushaj for that D’agostini guy no one had heard of and we were all pissed about it?
