Alaska Aces hire former Providence head coach

The Blues' ECHL team just announced that Rob Murray, formerly a scout, assistant coach, and then head coach of the Providence Bruins for three years, will be the next head coach of the Aces.

Murray was bashed for missing the playoffs with the P-Bruins for the last two years, but in his first year the team made it to the conference finals. He's best known for the great work he's done developing Bruins players; he was involved with the P-Bruins in some capacity while David Krejci, Vladimir Sobotka, Patrice Bergeron, Tuukka Rask, Matt Lashoff, Joe Colborne, Adam McQuaid, Brad Marchand, and Johnny Boychuk all did time there, among others.

Peter Chiarelli had said last year that the Bruins had a good relationship with the owner of the Aces, and that makes sense since Boston occasionally stashes prospects there that don't fit anywhere else (Providence, Reading) including the Aces' current backup goaltender, Adam Courchaine.

Best of luck to Rob Murray in your system, Blues! Treat him well. He was always a cool, really candid guy after games, in good times and in bad.
