Monday Links: AMRKA Edition
Happy 4th of July, everyone! Enjoy these links and then a video where somebody blows their nuts off with fireworks.
Blues News
- Hildy posted this yesterday, but in case you missed it, welcome the Blues' latest signing, Brett Sterling. [SB Nation]
NHL/Hockey News
- The big (and only news, really) from yesterday was the blockbuster(?) swap of Martin Havlat and Dany Heatley. They both were paid too much money to suck, so a change of scenery was inevitable. [Globe and Mail]
- Wysh on why Heatley became tradeable for the Sharks. I just like the picture they used of him. It screams "receiver." [Puck Daddy]
- The Predators have somehow convinced someone else to don their latest set of ugly jerseys. Niclas Bergfors signs for 1-year/$750,000. [Washington Post]
- Jagr will make sure that he kicks ass for the Flyers. [phillyBurbs]
- Can anyone else believe that Steven Stamkos isn't signed yet? [Sporting News]
- It seems that almost every journeyman NHL player somehow ends up on Long Island at some point in their careers. Welcome to the club, Marty Reasoner. [Rochester D&C]
Monday Video
Forget "other stuff," let's just get to the fireworks.
And now, a compilation of people sticking bottle rockets in their butt and failing.
These are the freedoms that we fight to protect. Happy 4th!

If it wasn't for the Russian guy...
Sure.
I push snow during TV time-outs. The Blues pay me in jumpsuits.
That's the thing.
Shortly after the photo was taken, David Backes punched the Russian guy back to Moscow.

It's amazing the stupid things people will do.
I’ve done some dumb stuff, but I can honestly say shoving fireworks up my butt isn’t one of them.

How fucking monumentally stupid do you have to be...
…to try and launch bottle rockets out of your ass?
Every scene in that video compilation looked like it was shot in southeast Missouri and/or Illinois south of I-70.

What's cool is that it's in a beautiful outdoor setting like Yosemite National Park...

Just let the arsonel go
Storms rolling in, you can smell it. Then in the background you hear non firework rumbling, everyone in the neighborhood was cutting loose. Its fun trying to guess which street is shooting what off, every now and then you see a rocket pop over the trees. The smell of the storm and smoke and patriotism in the air with lingering charcoal covering the fresh grass. Smells like America. Fuck yeah
He raged at the world, at his family, at his life. But mostly he just raged.
Jay McClement for Selke in 2011. Justice will be served. Penalties will be killed.
I was at a music festival and the camp ground was just a large field like a parking lot so it was very crowded. There was a very bad thunderstorm with lots of lightning, so I bunkered in the car instead of the tent.
People were shooting off fireworks during the storm. At the same time a large flash of lightning came over my car, a firework zoomed right over my car and tent and hit the tent next to me. I heard a bunch of screaming so I thought someone got hit by lightning. It was crazy.
