"So Alex, what did you do during the off season?"

"Well, I started off back in May with a benefit for Stray Rescue with Randy Grim and a group of Drag Queens."

(I would love to have been the fly on the wall when Alex discovered who the other special guests at this event were going to be. Hopefully, somebody bought him a dress for the event. If this news doesn't foster some jokes in the locker room this year, I'll be seriously disappointed in his teammates.) ~ Gene_STL

Spring for Strays Scores Big

The sixth Annual Spring for Strays attracted a crowd of about 300 patrons on May 1.

The fun-filled afternoon at Harry's Restaurant and Bar was emceed by actress Elaine Hendrix, who also is a founding member of the new nonprofit organization Animal Rescue Corps. Alex Steen of the St. Louis Blues also was a special guest.

The event featured food, drinks, silent and oral auctions, and a special performance by some of St. Louis' most recognized drag queens.

The auction included gift certificates to many restaurants, and even a chance to ride along on a rescue with Randy Grim, founder and CEO of Stray Rescue.

We'd like to thank Harry's and its staff for a magnificent job hosting Spring for Strays for the fourth straight year.

Wowzers.

As someone who lives in the home of the drag queen, I’ve seen better. Not much, but still better. Still, go Steener and Stray Rescue. I’m always impressed by how much this team does for pets in the metro area.
