I cannot think of a single positive thing to say about the Peoria Rivermen right now. Their goaltending is sub-par. Their defense is sub-par. Their offense is sub-par. Their special teams are sub-par. And they have now lost seven consecutive games, giving away a 3-2 lead after two periods by surrendering three unanswered goals in the third period. "Awful" is the kindest thing I can think of to say about Dave Allison's coaching skills, and about Peoria's performance, to date.
Those of your who know me, or who have followed my "Prospect Sunday" features for the several years they have appeared here, know that I am usually pretty optimistic and upbeat about the Blues' minor leaguers and prospects. But this miserable trainwreck of a season that Peoria is turning in, is enough to try the patience of a saint... and I've been called a lot of things in my life, but "a saint" isn't one of them.
I'm just about out of ideas as to what can be done to dredge this season off of the river bottom, so I'm calling on those of you who regularly read "Prospect Sunday" to chip in with your ideas, your thoughts, and your suggestions tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
