Rivermen get ex-AHL All-Star goalie from San Jose Sharks

By DAVE EMINIAN (deminian@pjstar.com) of the Journal Star

PEORIA — The Peoria Rivermen acquired goaltender Alex Stalock on loan from the San Jose Sharks on Saturday evening.

Stalock was an AHL All-Star and AHL All-Rookie Team member in 2009-10, when he played 61 games for Worcester and posted 39 wins.

He made his NHL debut in 2010-11 with San Jose, but his season was cut short by a sliced tendon in his leg.

His recovery extended into the first half of this season, and only recently returned to action as part of a three-goaltender rotation in Worcester.

The Rivermen pounced at Stalock in their search to bring an accomplished AHL-NHL caliber goaltender to Peoria to back up Jake Allen.

San Jose did the deal to give Stalock a chance at more games to further his recovery.
