I can't help still being mad about the loss of half of a season over what amounted to very little. It doesn't seem right. And after the third time fans have had to do without, I think that it is time for a change at the top. However Bettman sits atop his Manhattan penthouse, untouched by the cries of his consumers, with voices of praise from his richest franchise owners. I refuse to believe that every owner thought that the lockout was a great and worthwhile venture, but because of confidentiality rules, we will never know who dissented.
I have an idea on how to force the hand of the owners and only target the teams that were complicit in the lockout and unremorseful now. I would like to see some public pressure on team owners to sign a letter of no confidence with intent to terminate Gary Bettman. Failure to sign would mean a concerted boycott movement against the specific teams. I think that most franchises would go with it with minimal pressure, while the more callous owners would be flushed out for all to see. If it work at all, the least that could happen is that Bettman gets fired for his arrogance.
This would be a monumental undertaking that would require an internet campaign that spans all markets and has enough support to actually make owners take notice. I have the idea, but I have no clue how to get it started, so I am putting it out to the public. I figure if it has merit it will fly, if not, then Bettman is right and we will all go back to giving him our money sooner or later.
Thanks for looking this over, feedback is appreciated.
