I freely admit that I was a fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as a kid. They were unique, and fun, and very much the perfect toy for a child of the 80s and 90s. Also, Casey Jones was pretty bad ass, and his toy came with a golf bag full of clubs and hockey sticks. He even wore an old-time goalie mask. I was fascinated by hockey when I was a kid, so Jones became one of my favorite characters.
I remember reading somewhere that Brian Elliott isn't a Ninja Turtles fan; he just thinks that Casey Jones is a pretty bad-ass thing to put on a mask. I can't disagree with him. This season's mask (for whenever it starts -- God willing it'll be January 19th) has really put Casey into the limelight, and I think is one of my new favorites. Witness the excellence that Jason Livery at Belleville's HeadStrong Grafix has created (Images via InGoal Magazine):
Honestly, if the left side of that mask doesn't strike fear into the hearts of someone, I don't know what will. That's Casey Jones on steroids. HeadStrong has a full gallery of Elliott masks at their website.
