The Blues today acquired three prospects from Nashville, and sent defenseman and Peoria captain Scott Ford to the Predators.
The primary player acquired by the Blues is Finnish prospect center Janne Lajunen. Lajunen, drafted 201st overall by Nashville in 2008, is an offensively skilled center with good skating skills and hockey sense. He's a native of the Helsinki suburb of Espoo, and adds to the Blues' growing stable of Finnish prospects.
With the demotion of Jeff Woywitka to Peoria, the handwriting was on the wall for the veteran Ford. He had been a fixture in the press box over the last half-dozen games, and will return to Milwaukee, where he gave the Rivermen fits as a premier defenseman for the Admirals for the last several seasons.
The Blues also acquired Hungarian goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi and French-Canadian prospect winger Andre Bouvet-Morrissette in today's deal. Bouvet-Morissette was loaned to Evansville, while Hetenyi was loaned out to the Orlando Solar Bears due to a goaltending logjam in Evansville.
