Sunday Links: Bigger On the Inside Edition

"I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart." - Dilip Vishwanat

A filler article update on the Petro contract, Sad Mark Messier, & a death ray. What more could you want...other than the new Doctor Who?

What's that you say? Tyler's gone for the week? And you STILL feel the urge to click things first thing in the morning?!? I think you might have a problem...I'm concerned for you...maybe you should get so-

[DUCKS]

OK, FINE! If you stop throwing things I'll give you some links to click! But I really feel like I'm enabling you guys...

BLUES NEWS:

  • ALEX PIETRANGELO REPORT: "There's really nothing to report," according to Armstrong. More on this pointless article with no new information story as it develops. [STLToday]
  • Dan O'Neill (I know, I know) chronicles the Blues' roster changes going into training camp...which is still about 6 weeks away. Plenty of time for both the P-D & us here at SLGT to practice spelling "Magnus Paajarvi." [STLToday]
  • Army & Hitch are "banking on" Derek Roy returning to glory. For starters, I'm just hoping he avoids Andy McDonald's Disease. Baby steps, people. [FSMW]

HOCKEY NEWS:

  • Antoine Roussel of the Dallas Stars is changing numbers this year from 60 to 21, which sucks for any Stars fans that just bought his number 60 jersey. So he offered to re-imburse fans for the digit switch on their jerseys. I'm sure his mom is very proud...as is the other person that bought his jersey. [Puck Daddy]
  • A recent poll showed that 90% of Canadian families chose NOT to sign their kid(s) up for hockey. That made Mark Messier sad. [TSN, via Pro Hockey Talk]
  • The Nudge might not be ready for opening night, but to be fair it's not his fault - for some reason opening night is WAY earlier this year than last. [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • Mike Knuble thinks his career might be over, since neither Chicago nor Detroit can sign him, which couldn't be further from the truth - his career is over because none of the other 28 teams want him either. [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • The next few weeks could see the end of Hockey Night in Canada as we know it, and Don Cherry feels fine. (......LEO-NARD BERN-STEIN!) [Puck the Media]
  • Two words: NHL. Pokemon. You're welcome. ["I wanna be...the very best! Like no one ever was..."]

OTHER NEWS:

  • For you fellow soccer fans out there: believe it or not, there are somethings happening that don't have to do with Clint Dempsey and the Seattle Sounders. Like the leaked plans for NYC FC's future stadium proposal in Manhattan. [Gothamist]
  • Speaking of soccer, this coming Saturday the 10th, the biggest sports team in the world, Real Madrid, plays Italian giant Inter Milan at the Edward Jones Dome. Over 52,000 tickets have already been sold, but plenty are still available. Unless you happen to have a couple hundred million dollars lying around, there are very few things you can do about St. Louis not having a professional outdoor soccer team. This is one of them. [Ticketmaster] (And if you DO have a couple hundred million dollars lying around, why the fuck didn't you get in on buying the Blues last year?!?)
  • I'll just let you make your own liquid-related joke after I tell you that someone found an abandoned strip club...underwater. Should be safe for work. [Huffington Post]
  • Do any of my fellow Metro-East peeps need a few spare parts to finish their death rays? Then you're in luck! [Craigslist]

VIDEO:

If you're anywhere near as geeky as I am, today is a pretty big day for you: the BBC will announce the actor who'll play the 12th Doctor Who live today at 1:00 PM central. I'm still holding out hope that it'll be a woman, but let's be real: no it won't. (And in case you're wondering where I stand: 9, 5, 11, 7, & 4).

For those of you who can't seem to find time to watch those 50 years of old Doctor Whos crowding your DVR since 1963, he's a brief update (minus the last two seasons):

Look, I know I'm not your real links master, only your step-links master...but that doesn't mean we can't be close, too. If you want something linked, and you don't want to just hold onto it and wait until DK comes and picks you up this weekend, send them to me at:
