Sunday Links: "...on a bicycle made for two!"

Silent, but deadly. - Claus Andersen

Sir Jax pedals for kids, I don't understand gambling, & Back to the Future is subtly racist.

Well, Everton still can't buy a goal (though the club is infamously poor, so that's nothing new), but at least Illinois got one of the three wins they'll get this year.

But last time I checked, still no hockey. Ho-hum.

Here's some links!

BLUES NEWS:

  • Barret Jackman and Louie rode tandem bikes yesterday as part of "Ride to Unite, a charity event designed to raise money and awareness for children with visual impairments at the Delta Gamma Center." Here are some cool pictures to prove it. [Blues]
  • That's pretty much it, so I'll give you a link to the Delta Gamma Center's web page so you can learn more about their organization, their goals, and how you can help. [DGCKids]

HOCKEY NEWS:

  • His new Jets teammates are calling Devin Setoguchi "fun to watch." But let's be real - they're all in fucking Winnipeg. Two and a Half Men is fun to watch next to what they have up there. Related story: apparently Devin Setoguchi is a Winnipeg Jet now, and no one remembered to tell me. No one tells me anything...*grumble-grumble* [Pro Hockey Talk]
  • Penguins blue-liner Paul Martin was just an emergency back-up for the 2006 US Olympic team in Turin, and missed what seemed like a locked in chance in Vancouver with a broken arm. Now he's doing his damnedest to make good on (probably) his last chance at Olympic glory. I'm not sure if he's one of the top 8 American defenseman right now, but you can bet I'll be rooting for him to make it (as long as it's not at Kevin Shattenkirk's expense). [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette]
  • According to Bovada, the Blues are 13/4 odds to win the Central. I'll be honest: I have no idea what that means. And for that matter, do they mean the regular season division title, or the winner of the Central divisional playoffs - and if the later, what the hell happens if a wild card from the Pacific wins it? I'm fucking lost, so if someone can explain it to me. ...on second thought, don't. I don't need to develop a gambling addiction to go with my insomnia, my unhealthy penchant for fast food, and my crippling student loan debt. [SBNation NHL]
  • The Leafs Nation has a very interesting thoughts on some comments made regarding our old pal "Silent" Jay McClement, including the conclusion that a high number of turnovers is actually a pretty misleading stat to judge players on. [The Leafs Nation]

UN-HOCKEY NEWS:

  • Want to feel old? The movie School of Rock came out 10 years ago. Here's some pictures of the kids from the cast today for you to look at while you slowly creep every closer to your eventual demise. (In a related story, Tyler is so old, he thought School of Rock was supposed to be about geology.) [HuffPost]
  • You think the Blues & Predators new ticket policies are bad? You haven't seen anything, apparently: a Danish soccer team has canceled already completed purchases of tickets for their games in the Champions League for a number of fans with "non-Danish" sounding names. [Dirty Tackle]
  • Comedy Central is getting set to roast James Franco (actually, I think they already did, they just haven't aired it yet), so Vulture went back to select the 15 best sets in Comedy Central roast history. Snoop went and tore Donald Trump a new one! [Vulture]

VIDEOS:

It's September 1st, so I wouldn't be the music nerd that I am if I didn't give you a taste of Kurt Weill's "September Song." Take it away, Mr. Durante, circa 1955!

Speaking of 1955, Back to the Future is fucked-up. Like, really fucked-up. Wanna know how?

"Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya', tomorrow! A day closer to ho-ckey!"

Also, tomorrow's Monday. Send your shit to DK, thusly:

...and don't forget to be awesome!
