After last night's win in Detroit, the Blues are 14-2-1 so far this season against the Eastern Conference. The Devils are one goal above .500 and are in 6th place in the weak Metropolitan division. Martin Brodeur doesn't look like the Marty of Old - or maybe he does. Their goal differential isn't too bad, but it's still in the red. They haven't been able to really make up for scoring since Ilya Kovalchuk reverse-defected back to Russia.

This might be a "transition season" for the Devils.
Tonight shouldn't be much of a challenge for the Blues, but you do have to keep in mind that last night the Wings iced many, many young kids out of necessity. The Devils don't have to do that. Heck, they have two of the oldest players in the league: Brodeur and the ageless Jaromir Jagr. Jagr has had a fantastic season so far, second on the team in goals (15), first in assists (24) and first in points (39). More impressively, he's a +16 on a team where the second highest +/- is Dainius Zubrus' +9. People go on and on about Teemu, and they should, but Teemu needs to hit Jagr for that fountain of youth.
This is your morning open thread. Discuss last night's win, tonight's impending match, and check back later on for a game preview, your GDT, and a recap. While you're waiting head over to In Lou We Trust and say hi, though remember, they don't take fondly to wordy durds over there.
