GameThread for Edmonton Oilers at St. Louis Blues, Mar 13, 2014

Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

David Perron should get a warm welcome tonight, at least before the game. During? That's a different story.

Tonight is David Perron's first night back in St. Louis since being traded this off-season for Magnus Paajarvi in a cap-clearing move. He has an impressive 24 goals, which would put him second on the team if he were still here. But alas, he is not, and his scoring touch is being "utilized" in Edmonton. The Post-Dispatch's Dan O'Neill has a wistful look at Perron and his time in St. Louis, and the disappointment in no longer playing here is palpable:

"St. Louis meant so much to me. I really loved every single person I met from St. Louis. It’s why I started on Twitter (@DP_57), so I could keep in touch with them.

"It was an unbelievable six years, and when I’m going to be watching the playoffs this year, I’m going to hope they have success."

Awwww. Following him on Twitter after the trade is like staring at a Sarah McLachlan ASPCA ad on repeat. Reading this article is like watching that while reading about Backes helping that boxer give birth.

It's all time to put that behind us. Perron will always be a favorite here, and I bet will get a nice ovation before the game, but once that puck drops, he's an Oiler. A pesky, annoying Oiler who will score on you and take stupid offensive zone penalties.

This is your GameDay Thread. Comment like you'd like to see Frenchie in the box all night long.

Let's do this. Let's Go Blues.
