Who's Hot Who's Not: Blues vs Wild

The Blues won a hard fought game against Colorado today. They did so in line with my previous predictions. While none of the hot players scored a point, Jay Bouwmeester was +1 on the Hot list and Steve Ott was -1 on the Not list. The Blues don't get a break on the road, as they are back in action tomorrow at the Minnesota Wild.

Who's Hot:

Barret Jackman - Jax Jax Jax is the hottest player on the Blues when it comes to the Wild. He is +9 over his career against them. Jackman has scored 6 points in his career against the Wild, 3 goals and 3 assists. He has scored no more than 3 goals against any team in his career. Jackman shooting percent is 7.1%, which ranks 4th best in his career.

Kevin Shattenkirk - Shattenkirk is also red hot when facing the Wild. He ties Jackman with +9 over his career. Shattenkirk has scored 2 goals and 9 assists lifetime against Minnesota. One of his 2 goals was registered as the game winning goal. He also has 12 penalty minutes in 15 games, and shoots just below Jackman at 6.3%.

David Backes - Backes is the only forward to make the cut on the Hot list. He has done so with an impressive +7 lifetime. in 28 games he has scored 15 points; 8 goals and 7 assists. He is also shooting a respectable 14.8%, which is his 9th best out of all the NHL teams. Included in his 8 goals are 2 on the power play, and 2 game winners.

Who's Not:

Roman Polak - Polak makes his second straight appearance on the Not list. This time he comes in at -5. This is the worst on the team and completely opposite of the stellar numbers put up by fellow defensemen Jackman and Shattenkirk. Polak has played 22 games against the Wild, scoring 2 goals and 5 assists. The silver lining is that of his 2 goals, both have come even strength, and both have been game winners.

Jay Bouwmeester - The Blues has 2 defensemen on the Hot and 2 on the Not this go round. After appearing as the hottest player on the Blues against the Avalanche, Bouwmeester comes in at -4 lifetime against the Wild. In 30 career games he has 1 goal and 6 assists. His lone goal was a game winner, continuing the trend started by Polak. When he found the net it happened to be lucky, but don't expect it to happen often. He is shooting only 1.9% against the Wild.

Maxim Lapierre - Lappy makes his first appearance on Hot or Not on the wrong list. In 18 career games he is -2 against the Wild. He and the other members of the Not list represent the only Blues with career minus figures against Minnesota. Maxim has 1 goal and 1 assist against the Wild. Expect Lapierre to see time in the box, as he has 40 penalty minutes against the Wild. The only team he has served more time against is the Boston Bruins.

Ryan Miller - Minnesota is another team that Miller is unfamiliar with. He has only faced them 5 times over his career. In those games he is 3-2-0 with a .917 save percentage and 2.30 GAA. He has allowed 11 goals in those 5 games, but was able to shut out the Wild once.

Brian Elliott - The forgotten goaltender on the Blues is perfect when facing the Wild. In 6 career games he is 6-0-0. During those games, he has a .917 save percentage and a 1.83 GAA. He also has 2 career shutouts against the Wild.
