"Game Time" PROSPECT SUNDAY for April 6, 2014

According to "Hockey's Future," Jake Allen is NOT one of the Top 50 prospects in the NHL. Photo by - Steve Woltmann, CHI Wolves

Between ridiculous and self-serving prospect rankings at "Hockey's Future," trolling Avalanche fans, and a Sunday afternoon game with the much-loathed Blackhawks, I'm honestly not in the mood to spend a lot of time on this today only to have it ignored by pretty much everybody... The Wolves have clinched a playoff spot for the 16th time in 20 seasons, and the K-Wings are still on track to finish as the No. 2 seed in the ECHL's Eastern Conference despite dropping three of four games on the road this week.

ELMIRA, NY --- Led by a spectacular special teams night sparked by a 4-for-5 performance on the power-play and one shorthanded goal, the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Elmira Jackals 6-3 at the First Arena.
Kalamazoo exploded in the second period scoring four times including three goals in the first 3:13 of the period. Royals hang on to defeat K-Wings

Kalamazoo loses 5-4 to Reading
READING, PA --- Despite battling back in the waning moments Friday night, the Kalamazoo Wings comeback bid fell short in a 5-4 loss at the Santander Arena against the Reading Royals.
Following the (Royals' fifth) goal, the K-Wings made a goaltender change bringing in Jordan Binnington to replace Joel Martin, who made 11 saves on 16 shots in 28 minutes. Binnington, who finished the game stopping all 14 saves he faced, stood strong against his biggest challenge in the third period (by) denying Brendan Blandina on a penalty shot 3:25 into the third period.

COMING UP:

Everything is back next week, Lord willing and the creek don't rise... no big changes in the overall Three Star standings, but they'll be posted later today anyway just because that's the one aspect of "Prospect Sunday" that most people (including me) seem to look forward to.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer this week, folks... depression is a hell of a thing to have to fight 24/7/365, and I'm not always up to the challenge.
