My son isn't even two yet and he can stand up on his own, skate a little, and get back up. I thought this was a little brag worthy.

Check out the always excellent Rivermen Blog for info and analysis. He poses an interesting question about why the deal was made.

Barry Melrose on NHL Tonight on the Ben Bishop trade. HD video now baaaaaaaaaaaby!!!! Make sure and set the video quailty to 720 HD on lower right of the video if they are not already in HD. It's the round icon that looks like a gear. Go full screen for the best high high def experience. And to the anonymous young SOB commenter on the YT account who inspired the move to HD with the "get with it gramps, no one posts videos in SD" comment, kiss my benuchi.

Not real happy with my boy DP with the obvious slew-foot on Kassian, he only got 2 for interference. Besides a hidden butt end to the jaw a slew foot is about the worst you can do to someone on the ice. Unless something happened earlier with Kassian I can't see why DP would cheap-shot him like that. Here's the video, Perron seems to have some whacking going on with #40 Lapierre in front of the net right before the slew-foot but that's all I see. Lapierre is also the player DP ends up with along the boards in the ensuing scrum. Feel shame DaVeed. He gets a rep as a cheapshot and someone will ring that bell and that could be it. It also was a stupid play in a tight game that could have cost a goal and maybe the game next time. Not a smart play.

While interest in purchasing St. Louis' historic Union Station continues, it got me thinking about the former rail giant's role as it relates to the St. Louis Blues and the city as a whole. Amtrak pulled out years ago and efforts to revive it as a mall have been unsuccessful so far. To me though, the biggest travesty has been a severe misuse of the enormous train shed which forms a bookend to a sports-centric Clark Street. This beautiful structure which once serviced upwards of 100,000 passengers a day now exists as a parking lot. And while many of us Blues fans make use of this lot a few times of year, I can't help but think a new space like the picture above (which I poorly faux-Photoshopped) would be a welcome addition for Blues fans and an obvious pre- and post-game gathering spot for Blues fans and Blues families. Tom Stillman...make this happen. P.S. A Christmasy-themed version is here and some more potentially outlandish ideas for Union Station are here.

Here's Some Good News

Has anybody else noticed that the Blues' road record is now 11-13-3? Not fabulous but closer to the standard of "great at home, 0.500 on the road" that they always seemed to have when they were a "good" team. If we can come home from the current road trip with more wins than losses it may be time to end the "the Blues suck on the road" meme Winning consistently at home and splitting on the road is an ok way to win a playoff series or two.
